Stolen vehicle reported in rural Rich Hill

On July 20th a Deputy was dispatched to a residence on State Route A in rural Rich Hill regarding a stolen vehicle. The victim advised the Deputy that when she arrived home on July 19th both of her vehicles were parked in her yard. 

When she left her residence the following morning her 2007 Scion was missing. She also observed that her other vehicle had been gone through but nothing was missing out of it. 

The license plate on the Scion is JC3K7B. It is a tudor sedan that is gray in color. If you see this vehicle please contact your local law enforcement or the Bates County Sheriff's Office.

We need help finding Diesel Dog!

HELP! THIS is Diesel Dog. He is my son's Diabetic Alert Dog and he disappeared this evening in Harrisonville around King Arthur's Court and Lexington. 

He lives on New Castle Dr and does not know his surroundings. He is wearing a gray harness with Harrisonville dog tags. 

My son needs this little fella so should you see him please call 816- 773-2499. Prayers please for his safe return😞

Update: More information released on shooting in Nevada

On Sunday July 21, 2019 at approximately 2:31pm, officers from the Nevada Police Department and Vernon County Sheriffs Office responded to a residence in the 200 block of S. Spring Street for a reported disturbance in progress. 

Officers located one male subject and one female subject inside the residence that had sustained gunshot wounds. Both subjects were transported from the scene by ambulance to Nevada Regional Medical Center. 

The female subject has been pronounced dead at Nevada Regional Medical Center. The male subject has been transferred from Nevada Regional Medical Center to Freeman Hospital in Joplin via air ambulance. 

One person has been taken into police custody and the investigation remains ongoing. Citizens with information that would be helpful in this case are encouraged to contact the Nevada Police Department at (417) 448-2710.

Harrisonville High School students attend MoDot Traction Conference


These eleven Harrisonville High School students are giving up part of their summer, and weekend, to attend the MoDot Traction Conference in Columbia the next three days. During the conference the students will learn, leadership skills, safe driving habits, and team building exercises. 

Additionally, they will learn how to share this information with their fellow students throughout the school year to make Harrisonville a safer community. 

The HPD would like to thank these students for their commitment to make Harrisonville a safer place. The students are chaperoned by HHS Instructor Sherry Roe, School Resource Officer Jeremiah Jacobs, and Chief John Hofer. Also pictured are our awesome Traction team advisors Hannah and AJ.

Shooting reported in Nevada

The Nevada Missouri Police Department has requested assistance from the Missouri Highway Patrol to investigate the shooting of two people in the city limits of Nevada.
