Kirk Hannah set to coach Versailles Tigers Football

Kirk Hannah

We would like to take the opportunity to introduce the Versailles Tigers new Head Football Coach. Kirk Hannah will lead our team into the 2020 season that will begin preparations starting in June.

Coach Hannah has been a part of several winning programs which were the Harrisonville Wildcats during their state championship runs and the Butler Bears during several district championship games. His experience and enthusiasm for the Versailles Tigers has a lot of people excited including our student athletes.

Coach Hannah came to us at the beginning of the 2019 season and was the Special Teams coordinator while working in the middle school ISS room.

He has since been moved to High School PE/Weights and loves being around the students he will coach. Please take time to congratulate Coach Hannah on leading the Tigers!

Shipley named State Farm Athlete of the week

We are excited to announce Jenna Shipley as State Farm's Student Athlete of the week! Jenna is a senior at Adrian and on the girl's varsity basketball team. She was nominated by Abe Lewis, Adrian's athletic director and principal. Jenna passed 2000 career points and 1000 rebounds this season which is a phenomenal accomplishment. Jenna possesses a tremendous work ethic on and off the court. Academically she is ranked in the top 10 of her senior class. Mr. Lewis states, “Jenna is a good role model and leads a life of integrity and high moral character.”

When Jenna was asked to describe what it takes to become an elite athlete in her own words she stated "Hard work is number one. You have to have time management between the classroom and doing what it takes to succeed on the court. An elite athlete puts in that extra work to really be successful, and they have to have the heart and love for the game.

" We are very proud to present Jenna with this award and wish her and the Lady Blackhawks good luck the rest of the season. They take on Lakeland tonight at Adrian.

One dead after pursuit in Cass County

On 2/6/20 around 3:16pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Peculiar Police Department and Cass County Sheriff's Deputies were pursuing a 2002 Ford Explorer at a high rate of speed on northbound Peculiar Way just south of Peculiar Drive in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the driver of the Ford Explorer 23 year old Bracken M. Hubbard of Kansas City, Missouri forcefully applied the brakes in a attempt to have the police strike his vehicle, this cause his vehicle to skid off the right side of the road and strike a power pole before overturning.

Mr. Hubbard was pronounced dead at Belton Regional Medical Center in Belton. The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene of the accident by J's Southland Tow.
