Snow possible mid week


The extremely wet pattern that began in Oct of 2018 for the KC area continues nearly a year and a half later. Precipitation for this Winter (Dec-Feb) now stands at 4.54"...normal for a entire Winter is 4.12" so we are already above that with 20 days still to go and the rest of Feb looks wet! The next chance for precipitation will come Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Today will feature partly to mostly cloudy skies with near normal highs in the upper 30s to low 40s. Similar conditions are expected on Tuesday with increasing clouds later in the day. Snow is expected to develop overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. Minor accumulations of slushy snow will be possible mainly along and south of the Missouri River.

Missing person in Clinton

Missing Person Alert

19 Year old Jordan J. Burkhart is a white male, 5'10", 170 lbs, brown/black hair, and has a snake tattoo on his inner right forearm. Jordan was last seen around 1030 hours on February 9th. Jordan was in the area of the Church of Christ, located at 607 E Clinton Street. 


Jordan was wearing an orange shirt, black hoodie, red tennis shoes, and blue jeans. Jordan is known to frequent the Henry County Library and Benson Center. Jordan might be in the Clinton or Windsor area.

Two People Injured Following Pursuit of Wrong Way Driver In Cass County

Cass Co – Around 4:00 am a Cass County Deputy attempted to stop a black 2014 Volkswagen for speeding on I-49 south of Peculiar. When the deputy activated his emergency lights and siren, the driver accelerated and continued driving at speeds over 100 mph.

Additional deputies near Harrisonville joined the pursuit as the driver continued south through Harrisonville. The driver exited Interstate 49 at 7 Highway and then north on Brookhart Drive into the truck fueling area of Love’s Truck Stop. The driver then drove out of the parking lot and down the embankment onto the exit ramp to Interstate 49 north of S. Commercial Street. 

The driver began driving north in the southbound lanes of I-49. As the driver exited the wrong way at the 291 Highway ramp the vehicle turned sideways and began to reverse. A pursuing deputy struck the suspect’s vehicle as it backed across the ramp preventing it move moving.

The driver, identified as Quasheena L. Cadenhead, 23, Kansas City, was transported to a local hospital and admitted for observation of her injuries. 

A deputy involved was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

Cadenhead was charged today in Cass County with Resisting Arrest by Fleeing, E Felony, bond $7500.00 cash only. Cadenhead is also being held for 23 active warrants from Kansas City Police Department and a Failure to Appear Traffic warrant in Lee’s Summit.

Obituary - Bert Morris Rinker, Jr.

Bert Morris Rinker, Jr., age 84, of Harrisonville, Missouri, died Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Adrian Manor in Adrian, MO. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, with burial in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO. The family will receive friends 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pleasant Hill Man Charged in Shooting Death

Cass Co – Around 5:15 pm on Saturday deputies with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a house in the 16000 block of S. State Route E Pleasant Hill for a reported shooting.

When deputies arrived, they located a man outside the house and an unresponsive female in the basement of the residence. Pleasant Hill Fire and EMS personnel on the scene determined the female deceased.
The victim is identified as Lankford’s wife, Lorie A. Lankford, 60, Pleasant Hill.

Today the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office charged John Bradley Lankford, 56, Pleasant Hill with Murder First Degree, A Felony and Armed Criminal Action.

John Lankford is currently in custody at the Cass County Jail on $500,000.00 Cash Only bond.


Creighton man seriously injured in Cass County Crash

On 2/7/20 around 10:38pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a one vehicle rollover on southbound Missouri 7 Highway at east 315th Street in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 52 year old Scotty W. Gamblin of Creighton, Missouri was changing lanes when the driver over corrected and began to slide, the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck street sign and overturned several times.

Mr. Gamblin sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was transported to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene of the accident by J's Southland Tow.

Shots fired in Belton

On 2-9-2020 at approximately 7:25 AM, Belton Police Officers were dispatched to Westover Circle on a report of shots fired.
The officers discovered that a home had been struck several times by gunfire but neither the occupants of the home or anyone else had been injured.

The investigation revealed that a mid sized, black, import sedan had pulled onto Westover Circle from southbound Westover, fired the rounds at the home and then left the area southbound on Westover toward 58 highway.
