Snow returns tomorrow

Snow returns Wednesday, making roads slick for both the AM and PM commutes.

A transition to a rain/snow mix is expected for most during the afternoon, but slightly cooler/warmer temps could result in more/less snow.

Right now, 1-3” of snow along/east of I-35 looks most likely.

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. One in Three adolescents are victims of abuse by dating partners and violent relationships can have serious long term effects such as substance abuse use, eating disorders, risky behavior, future abusive relationships and suicide attempts. Advocates from several agencies in Cass County have teamed up to help educate staff and students.

“Our office is fortunate to have a victim advocate working to provide education and resources to the public and support the victims of crime” said Sheriff Jeff Weber.

During February the victim advocates will be in several schools throughout Cass County doing classroom presentations, assemblies and available during student lunches. They will discuss the red flags of an abusive relationship while focusing on what a healthy relationship should look like. The team consists of advocates from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Belton Police Department, and Hope Haven.

If your school or organization would like more information or a presentation please call the Cass County Sheriff’s Office Victim Advocate Crystal Beal at (816) 380-8319.
