Fatality Accident In Miami County Kansas

On 2/12/19 around 11:00pm the Kansas State Highway Patrol responded to a two vehicle head on crash on Kansas K68 Highway at Lookout Road around 5 miles west of Paola, Kansas.

The Kansas State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the westbound 1990 Mazda driven by 22 year old Dalis M. Palmer of Osawatomie, Kansas crossed the centerline of traffic and struck the 2010 Peterbilt semi truck driven by 37 year old Jordan T. Chism of Michie, Tennessee head on. 

Mr. Palmer was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and he was transported by Frontier Forensics. He wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

Mr. Chism was transported by ambulance to Miami County Medical Center with minor injuries.

BCMH Welcomes Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner Kim Winkley

Kim Winkley, MSN, APRN, an orthopedic nurse practitioner, is now available for consultation at Bates County Memorial Hospital (BCMH) in the Outpatient Specialty Clinic in collaboration with Dr. Danny Carroll.

Kim offers more than 10 years of experience as an orthopedic nurse practitioner. She has experience working in orthopedic surgery as a first assistant, in surgical oncology, and also in the urgent care setting. She is able to evaluate, diagnose, and treat most orthopedic problems including acute and chronic conditions. She sees both children and adults. She will also be able to provide postoperative visits to patients at BCMH. Kim has worked in collaboration with Dr. Danny Carroll, orthopedic surgeon, for the past eight years.

Kim will see patients at BCMH on Wednesdays in the Outpatient Specialty Clinic, located in the hospital at 615 W. Nursery, Butler.

Davey arrested on sodomy charges in Barton County

On 02-10-2020 The Barton County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a alleged sexual assault that had been reported to occurred in the Iantha area. 

 The investigation involved a minor child. The investigation continued on through the 11th where further interviews were conducted at the Children Center in Nevada Missouri. A suspect in the case was detained and questioned by Deputies of the Barton County Sheriff’s Office. 

At the conclusion of the investigation reports were sent to the Barton County Prosecutor and a warrant with no bond was issued for two counts of Sodomy. Arrested was 61 year of age Norman E. Davey, of Lamar. He is incarcerated in the Barton County Jail.

Obituary - James Rush

Mr. James Rush, 101 of Butler, Missouri, passed away February 10, 2020 at his home in Butler. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the Butler Presbyterian Church in Butler. 

Visitation will be Friday evening, Feb. 28, from 4-6 PM at the Mullinax Funeral Home (660) 679-0009 in Butler. Memorial contributions are suggested to Butler Presbyterian Church, Butler Public Library, or Heartland Hospice.
