Scam Alert In Bates County

Bates County Sheriff's Deputies have taken a report of a scam in the area where the subject claims to be from the Sheriffs Office. The caller is telling people that they have warrants and need to go to Walmart and get money cards to pay the bond.

It is not common practice for law enforcement to call people and take bond over the phone. The Bates County Sheriffs Office absolutely will not call you and ask you to get a money card over the phone.

If you ever question a caller then look up the agency in question and call them directly. Do not use a number that the caller provides

One arrested after stabbing in Amoret

At approximately 1230 today Deputies were dispatched to a report of multiple people being stabbed at a residence in Amoret Missouri. Deputies arrived on seen and immediately took one female subject into custody at a residence on the corner of Monroe St and 2nd.

Upon entry into the house deputies found one female with serious injuries on the floor. 

A second female was transported to the hospital via a good Samaritan prior to the deputies arrival. Medical crews arrived and began providing medical treatment to the female on scene. That subject was transported by ambulance to Bates County Memorial Hospital.

Detectives were called to the scene and are currently waiting for the prosecutor to issue a search warrant on the residence to collect evidence.

Obituary - Roland Henry Cretel, Sr.

Roland Henry Cretel, Sr. 82, passed away February 13, 2020. Rosary will be 5pm, Tuesday, February 18 with visitation following until 7pm at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Clinton, Missouri. Wednesday, February 19 10-11am visitation with Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 9020 E. 51st Terr., Kansas City, Missouri with interment following at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri. Memorial contributions are suggested, in lieu of flowers, to National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation 1-800-859-6723.

Roland is preceded in death by his son Stephen, Parents Marcel & Elise Cretel, 1sister and 5 brothers.

Roland is survived by his wife Rosalie of the home; children Roland (Teresa) Cretel Jr, Suzanne (Dan) Miller, Leon (Annette) Cretel, Sean Cretel, 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Obituary - Paul Raymond Sage

Funeral services for Paul Raymond Sage of Peculiar, Missouri will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. 

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 18 at the Schowengerdt Chapel in Butler. Burial in Scott Cemetery, Amsterdam, Missouri, with military honors. Contributions to Alzheimer's Association or American Cancer Society. Online condolences, www.schowengerdtchapel.com.

Paul Raymond Sage, age 71 of Peculiar, Missouri died Friday, February 14, 2020 at the V.A. Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born August 26, 1948 to Paul Cole and Velma Marg Case Sage in Amsterdam, Missouri.

Paul is survived by his wife, Sherry Sage of Peculiar, Missouri; two sons, Shawn Sage and wife Jessica of Oregon, Missouri and Brad Sage of Peculiar, Missouri; two sisters, Rayberta Hobbs and husband Calvin of Buffalo, Missouri and Sherrial Dulin and husband Chuck of Louisburg, Kansas; and seven grandchildren, Melody, Case, Isaac, Brody, Rylee, Tessa and Vivian. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Sage; and two sisters, Phyllis and Wilma.


Registration for Electric City Soccer Club

Registration for Electric City Soccer Club’s Spring 2020 season will be held February 22 & 23 from 4-6 pm, and February 27 & 28 from 7-9 pm at the Butler Pizza Hut party room.

Next Two Days

Temperatures will be slightly above normal today and Monday with light southerly winds. Scattered showers are possible Monday ahead of a cold front. There may also be areas of fog through the day. 

That cold front will knock temperatures back below freezing Monday night through the middle of the week.





New competitive softball club in Adrian Missouri

We are starting a new competitive softball club in Adrian Missouri for 12, 14,16,18u softball players.

12,14,16,18U teams will play A/B ball. We will have tryouts for all teams after we get organized after our information meeting.

We are developing a club that is in sync with the Adrian High School Spring Softball Season.
12u and 14u teams will have limited tournaments in Spring
16 and 18u teams will start immediately after High School Softball Ends in May

All teams will play throughout summer and into fall and will have dedicated indoor training and practice facility year round.

Ideally we are looking for girls from Adrian, Butler, Harrisonville, Drexel, Archie, Pecular, Belton, Rich Hill, Garden City, Nevada and the surrounding areas.

Also girls from the Kansas Area since they also have a Spring Softball High School Season.

Looking for dedicated coaches, batting coaches and pitching coaches to help build our new club for youth that live in our area.
