Obituary - Mary I. Dorflinger

Mary I. Dorflinger, age 86, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Foxwood Springs Living Community.

A visitation service will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 followed immediately by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083.

Mary was born in Birmingham, Alabama on November 6, 1933 to Louis G. and Flossie I. (Hampton) Burkholder. After graduating high school, Mary worked at Bendix for many years, currently Honeywell. For many years Mary and her husband, John D. Dorflinger owned a tractor company selling lawnmowers. As a woman of Baptist faith, Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church of Peculiar in Peculiar, Missouri.

Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband John D. Dorflinger; brother Edward Burkholder; and brother John F. Burkholder.

She is survived by her loving brother, Tom Burkholder and wife Carolynn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3846 W. 75th St., #4126, Prairie Village, Kansas 66208.


Burglary at JKB Autosales in Harrisonville

Sometime between 2:30 am and 4:30 am at JKB Autosales in Harrisonville, Missouri we had the Recaro seats from a 2013 Boss 302 mustang stolen and the hood off our 2014 Ford Raptor. 

$1000 reward for information leading to the arrest. These items are specific and will only work with the vehicles they came off of.

Obituary - Dan Eads

Dan Eads, 64, Harrisonville, MO, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020 at his home. Memorial visitation will be held from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with Masonic services at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Dan Eads Memorial, to be used at Cass Career Center Ag Program.

Dan was born July 19, 1955 in Independence, MO, a son of Robert H. and Danna (Stephens) Eads. He was a 1973 graduate of Truman High School in Independence. He married Kim E. Arthur on October 25, 1975 in Kansas City, MO. They moved to Harrisonville in 1977. He started working for the City of Harrisonville in 1985 with the street department, transferring to codes, and then to building inspector, retiring in 2004. He also co-owned and operated Eads & Arthur Shoe Repair and Gun Shop in Harrisonville from 1985-early 1990’s. Dan was a member and past master in 2015 of the Cass Masonic Lodge #147 AF&AM, Harrisonville, MO. Dan was on the Advisory Committee for the Cass Career Center Ag Program from 1995 to 2010.

Dan is survived by his wife, Kim, of the home; one son, Michael Eads (Monica), and one daughter, Jennifer Richardson (Nathan Brown), all of Harrisonville, MO; two brothers, Robert L. Eads (Marcella), Ft. Worth, TX and Dale Alan Walker (Dana), Torrington, CT; an aunt, Judy Kelsey (David), Independence, MO, and two grandchildren, Luke and Hannah Richardson.

For anyone who hasn't heard, Jordan Beard, Nevada Speedway driver, had a terrible accident in his shop while working on his car.

Jordan was life flighted to Springfield and as far as I know he cannot move his right leg and has no feeling in it. Please keep Jordan in your thoughts and prayers!
