Nevada woman injured in Henry County crash

On June 1st around 3:00 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County responded to a one vehicle accident in the northbound lanes of Missouri 13 Highway just north of Deepwater.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2006 GMC Envoy driven by 25 year old Gabrielle Wigge of Nevada, Missouri hit the median barrier and veered off the right side of the roadway coming to rest on the guardrail.

A passenger in the vehicle 58 year old Kelly D. Houts of Nevada sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton.

The vehicle was totaled and towed by Gary's Tow.

Garden City man killed in Henry County motorcycle accident

On June 1st around 8:20 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County along with the Henry County Sheriff's Office responded to a motorcycle accident on Route M at Missouri 13 Highway.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2011 Harley Davidson driven by 51 year old Robert L. Strotheide of Garden City, Missouri was westbound on Route M when he swerved to avoid striking a vehicle that was pulling out of a private drive. Mr. Strotheide over corrected causing him to travel off the roadway.

Robert L. Strotheide was pronounced dead at the scene of this accident by Henry County Coroner Dain Sisk.

Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Announces Promotion

Captain Steven Wilhoit, commanding officer of Troop A, Lee’s Summit, announces the following promotion effective June 1, 2021.

Corporal Bryan J. Hamerle was promoted to the rank of sergeant and designated as the zone supervisor of Zone 14, which serves Bates County. Hamerle was appointed to the Missouri State Highway Patrol on April 2, 2012, as a member of the 95th Recruit Class. After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Zone 14, Bates County. On May 1, 2016, Hamerle transferred to Zone 3, Clay County. Hamerle was promoted to corporal on September 1, 2019 and transferred to Cass County.

Sergeant Hamerle was born in Liberty, Missouri. He graduated from Liberty High School, in Liberty, in 2007. Before joining the Patrol, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. Sgt. Hamerle is married to Rebecca (Vincent) Hamerle, who is originally from Olathe, KS, and they have a daughter.

Dwayne Allen Broyles, 73, Blue Mound, Kansas died on Monday, May 31, 2021 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas.

A funeral service for Dwayne will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Blue Mound Federated Church. A visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Schneider Funeral Home & Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in Sunny Slope Cemetery, Blue Mound, KS.

Carjacking Suspects Arrested in Cass County

Cass Co – Around 8:00 Monday morning a deputy in the area of North Cass Parkway and I-49 observed a vehicle and occupants matching the description of individuals wanted for an armed robbery and carjacking that occurred in Raymore.

The deputy pursued the vehicle, a 2016 silver Dodge Charger, northbound on I-49 from North Cass Parkway. The driver continued to flee at a high rate of speed and exited I-49 at E. 155th Street. The driver failed to negotiate the intersection and struck the concrete median causing extensive damage to the vehicle.

The deputy then saw two subjects run from the vehicle. After a short foot chase, one subject was tased and fought with the deputy before being arrested. The second subject was located hiding near the scene about 45 minutes later with the assistance of officers from the Grandview Police Department, Belton Police Department and Kansas City Police Department K9 Unit. The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Raymore Police Department also assisted deputies.

Deputies recovered two firearms inside the vehicle. The suspects, identified as juveniles, and firearms were released to Raymore Police Officers for their ongoing investigation.

One deputy was treated and released at an area hospital for injuries sustained during the foot chase. “Deputies work day and night to protect our communities and this is just another example of violent criminals who will go to any length to avoid the law. Driving at high speeds, fighting and injuring law enforcement officers will not be tolerated,” said Sheriff Jeff Weber.

No further information is available at this time. Information regarding formal charges were forwarded to the Cass County Juvenile Office.
