Early morning house fire in Belton
At approximately 0500 this morning Belton Fire Department responded to the 300 block of S. Cedar (Y Highway) for a House Fire. First arriving crews encountered heavy fire conditions.
The fire was brought under control with the assistance of Grandview Fire Department, South metro fire district, and West Peculiar Fire. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Juvenile shot in Belton
Today at 11:59 AM, Belton Police officers responded to the parking lot of a convenience store in the 7900 block of E. 171st St on a report of a juvenile with a gunshot wound.
The juvenile was sitting in the backseat of his parent’s vehicle and suffered a gunshot wound to the hand and leg. No one else was injured in the incident.
Medics transported the child to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Initial information indicates this was an accidental, self-inflicted wound. How the juvenile acquired the weapon and other aspects of this case are still under investigation.

Obituary - Robert V. Keippel
Robert V. Keippel, age 53 of El Dorado Springs, Missouri passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. Robert "Bobby" was born January 5,1968 in Fulton, Kentucky.
He was a professional OTR truck driver for over two decades seeing the beauty of many places and touching the hearts of many people.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law Patty and James Stier and beloved pets. He is survived by his wife Llyn Marie "'Stier'' Keippel of the home; theirs sons, Robert (Robby) Kraft and wife Brittany, Richard (Rich) Kraft and wife Sam of Michigan, and Jarold Kraft and wife Joanna Kraft of Texas; his mother Patricia Keippel of Georgia; father Leonard Keippel of Illinois; sisters, Mona Keippel of Kansas and Jennifer Hill and husband Dana of Georgia; nieces, Tricia Query and husband Jacob and Alicia Keippel of Kansas; nephews, Fischer and Reid Hill of Georgia; as well as two grandchildren; two great-nieces and four great-nephews. He is resting peacefully as one of God's knights watching over those he loved and cared for.
Bobby's wishes were to be cremated. If donations are made in his name, he wishes for them to be made to American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association. Scott is survived by his four daughters, Becky Ellis of Stockton, Missouri, Pennie Harris of Osawatomie Kansas, Kimberly Urban of Brumley, Missouri and Samantha Harris and fiance` Jesse LeeMasters of Butler Missouri; seven grandchildren, Braxton Pitcher, Jacklyn Sweat, Zachary King, Garrett Urban, Ezra Ellis, Vaughn Helmer and Jaxson LeeMasters. two great-grandchildren, Blayne Morse and Jupiter King; two brothers, Rick Harris of Louisburg, Kansas and Frank Harris of Parsons, Kansas; three sisters, Winnie Autrey and Trudie Muncy and husband Bud, all of Linn Valley, Kansas, Pat Strain of Louisburg, Kansas and Glenda Rutherford of Ponca City, Oklahoma; and many nephews and nieces. Helen is survived by two daughters, Vickie Popplewell and husband Pat of Butler, Missouri and Linda Martin and husband Douglas of Paola, Kansas; four grandchildren, Douglas Martin, Jeremy Martin, Valerie Newkirk and Patrick Popplewell; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband George in 2007; one brother, Dean Ewbank; and two sisters, Marlene Cole and Wilma Hansen.
