Adrian Optimist 4th of July Sand Volleyball tournament

It’s about time for all of you volleyball “stars” to start stretching and gearing up for the Adrian Optimist 4th of July Sand Volleyball tournament! 

Tournament will be Saturday June 26th with start time TBD based on the number of teams we have sign up. Cost per team is $100. Coed with 6-7 players per team.

As usual, every team member gets one of the prizes Adrian Optimist 4th of July Celebration T-shirts! Winning team gets in FREE next year!

Two hurt in southeast Kansas accident

On June 6th shortly after 2:00 p.m. the Kansas State Highway Patrol along with Neosho County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident on K-47 at mile marker 29.4 around two miles south of Erie.

The Kansas State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the westbound 2013 Ford F-250 Super Duty driven by 19 year old Easton J. Dent of St. Paul, Kansas was attempting to make a left hand turn into a driveway when he was struck in the right side by the 2008 Ford F-150 driven by 23 year old Randall Patterson of Pleasanton, Kansas.

Randall Patterson along with a passenger in his vehicle 47 year old Rebecca A. Sombatchareun of Amoret, Missouri both sustained minor injuries in this accident and both were transported to Lebette Healthcare Facility for treatment.

Tonight: Overnight pavement repairs scheduled for portions of MO Route 7 at I-49 on June 7th.

CASS COUNTY– MoDOT Kansas City will be making overnight pavement repairs along portions of MO Route 7 beginning on Monday, June 7. work will require various lane and ramp closures. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and find alternate routes if necessary. All work is weather permitting.

Monday, June 7th
• Crews will close the left lane of the ramp from westbound MO Route 7 to northbound I-49 beginning at 7:30 p.m. until approximately 6 a.m. the following morning.

• Crews will close the second lane from left along eastbound MO Route 7 near I-49 beginning at 7:30 p.m. until approximately 6 a.m. the following morning.

Please be patient and considerate to your fellow motorists. Use the zipper merge and take turns at merge points. Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE ZONES. Buckle up. Phone down. Mound City Kansas man killed in Sunday afternoon rollover accident near Prescott

On June 6th the Kansas State Highway Patrol along with the Linn County Kansas Sheriffs Department responded to a one vehicle rollover accident two miles west of Prescott on East 300 Road.

The Kansas State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1994 Chevrolet Blazer driven by 20 year old Aren W. Goodall of Mound City, Kansas had drop of the side of the roadway, driver overcorrected and overturned.

Mr. Goodell was pronounced dead and transported to Frontier Forensics in Kansas City Kansas.

Funeral services for Mr. Goodell are pending and will be announced at a later time.







Structure Fire in rural Archie


The Adrian and Drexel Fire Departments are assisting the Central Cass Fire Department on a structure fire 33801 S. Dorsett Hill Road in rural Archie at this time.
