Obituary - William “Bill” Lewis Hayes

William “Bill” Lewis Hayes, age 53, of Nevada, MO passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, in Kansas City, MO. Bill was born January 30, 1968, in El Dorado Springs, MO to William and Betty Jane (Spence) King. On May 30, 2015, he married Desiree Shannon. He was of the Christian faith. He was very mechanical and could fix anything. 

He loved to restore vehicles, and woodworking as well as cooking, gardening and canning, fishing, camping and music. The greatest joy of his life was joking around and spending time with his children, and family.

Bill is survived by his wife Desireé; five children, Blake Hibbs and fiancée Lacie Rissman, Neosho, MO, Liza Jane Hayes, MaKayla Morris, Braden Morris and Kayli Clevenger, all of Nevada, MO; four grandchildren, Emalynn Hibbs, Gracelynn Hibbs, Fancee Hibbs, and Sophia Hibbs; three brothers, Rick (Theresa) Hayes, Freeman, MO, Clayton Hayes, and David (Jamie) Harreld, Nevada, MO; four sisters, Sharon Wolfe, Atlanta, GA, Alice (Ben) Cook, Nevada, MO, Debbi (Dirk) Scotten, Nevada, MO and Betty “Bebo” (Terry) Harp, Kansas, OK; as well as several nieces and nephews and a lifelong friend, Willie Hunt.

Preceding Bill in death were his parents, a brother, Mark Hayes, and a sister, Susan Geertsen.

The funeral for Bill will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Ferry Funeral Home with burial to follow in Moore Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 10:00 until service time, Tuesday at the funeral home.

Obituary - Terra Reynolds

Terra Hope Reynolds went home to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 44 on September 29, 2021, at Freeman West following a lengthy illness. Terra was born on March 2, 1977, to Melvin George Taylor Jr and Glenda Faye Taylor in Forsyth Missouri.

Terra grew up in Appleton City Missouri graduating at the Appleton City High School in 1995 after graduation she moved to Rich Hill Missouri where she had her children and furthered her education at Crowder College, earning an associate degree and graduating with honors. After a few years break, she decided to further her education even more and earned a bachelor’s degree in social work and a master’s degree in criminal justice. In 2013 she moved to Nevada Missouri with the love of her life, Brian Reynolds, and they were united in marriage on September 9th, 2017. Terra had a huge passion for children and advocated for them every chance she got. She also believed everyone had good in them and deserved a second chance in life. She spent many years working as a substance abuse counselor in Nevada Missouri. Terra had a heart of gold and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family fishing camping and singing. She was overflowing with love for her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Terra fought a long hard battle the last three years of her life but was always worried about everyone else and always had a smile on her face. Terra cherished the bond that she and her husband shared, a bond that is unbreakable and the epitome of true love in the rarest form. There will not be a day go by that Terra is not remembered and missed by all who loved her dearly.

Terra is survived by her husband Brian of the home; stepmother LouAnn Taylor; sisters, Delena (Michael) of the home, Ruby (fiance Virgil), Shawna (Dennis), and Anna; brothers, Nathan (Marsha), Cleatis, and Larry (Evie); children, Shonasea (Dusty), Fredderic and Maddy; grandchildren, Lyric (Nanner Baby) and Gracelynn (Gracie); nephews, William (Delia), Appachey (Jessica), and Austin; nieces, TeArra, Cynthia, and McCayla; great nephews, Braelyn (best friend) and Asher James; great niece, Alicia (Triston) and one great-great niece Emersyn.

The funeral service for Terra will be 3:00 p.m., Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Ferry Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Thursday.

Semi truck accident north of Adrian

On October 1st around 5:05pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Adrian Fire, Bates County EMS and Bates County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle semi truck rollover accident on Old 71 Highway north of Adrian.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1987 Kenworth Cabover Semi Truck driven by 49 year old Chris L. Grass of Kansas City, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway causing the load to shift and causing the truck to overturn.

Mr. Grass sustained moderate injuries and he was transported by ambulance to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Congratulations to recent Harrisonville High School graduate George Frees, who was named a Top 3 Finalist in the National FFA Agriscience Fair on October 1st. 

George will find out if he won on stage at the 94th National FFA Convention on Friday, October 29th at 7am.

The awards presentation will be broadcast on RFD-TV. George's Agriscience Fair project involved applying gibberellic acid to sugar cane to speed their growth to possibly make sugar cane a viable US crop for ethanol production.

Obituary - Richard Lee White

Richard Lee White, age 78, formerly of Linn Valley, Kansas passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at his daughters home in Bedford, Texas. He was born in Henderson, Kentucky on September 3, 1943 the son of James Arnett and Mildred Lucille Richmond White. He was united in marriage to Donna Hancock on April 6, 1962 in Henderson. 

She preceded him in death on February 27, 2015. Richard worked as Manager of Central Dispatch for Yellow Freight before retiring. Richard enjoyed fishing, gardening, campfires and watching the wildlife from his front porch. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a sister Demova Curson and grandson Joshua White.

Richard is survived by a daughter, Karen Leyva and husband Gabriel, two brothers, James Arnett White Jr., and Ivory Kenneth White, four sisters, Lavina June Walker, Betty Jean Moore, Wanda Faye Howell, and Grace Evelyn Ternes, a granddaughter Michelle Hendrickson and husband Ryan, a granddaughter-in-law Jessica Hall and husband Tristan and great grandchildren Kierston, Gavin, Alyssa, Makayla, Averi, Declyn and Lincoln.

A memorial service will be held at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel, with the date to be announced soon. Visitation will be held an hour before service. Inurnment will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to La Cygne Elementary for clothing and school supplies, something He and Donna contributed to each year, c/o Schneider Funeral Home, P.O.
