Police Pursuit ends on I-49 in Cass County
The vehicle stop was for displaying expired tags and illegal window tint. The vehicle initially pulled to the side of the road. Upon approach by the deputies the vehicle fled northbound.
The pursuit continued on I-49 through Harrisonville. Just north of Harrisonville the Cass County Sheriff's Office deployed spike strips. The driver of the vehicle attempted to avoid the spike strips and lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle then left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch between the interstate and the outer road.
The driver was taken into custody without any further incident. A search of the vehicle produced prescription medication and a handgun. The driver was transported to the Bates County Sheriff's Office where he will be held until charges are filed by the Bates County Prosecutor's Office.
We would like to thank the Adrian Police Department and Cass County Sheriff's Office for their assistance with this pursuit.

Officers noticed he had an empty knife sheath on his belt. A witness on the scene approached officers stating that the male subject stabbed another male who was located at the pedestrian security checkpoint.
Officers and medics made their way to the victim, who was transported to the ER emergent. The victim had multiple wounds to his neck, arm, and torso. The suspect was also transported to a different hospital for evaluation. Once medically cleared, he was then released to the Belton Jail pending charges. Further investigation revealed there were two additional victims who self-transported to an area ER. One had an injury to the hands, while the other subject was stabbed in his left torso region. The identities of the victims and the suspect are not being released at this time.
