Obituary - Dennis Leroy Barnum

Dennis Leroy Barnum, 69 of Lamar, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2023, in Lamar, Missouri.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Daniel Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Rockville Cemetery in Rockville, Missouri.

Driver arrested after attempting to run over pedestrians at Butler Sonic

On 7/8/2023 at 11:39pm, the Butler Police Department was advised of a reckless driver attempting to hit pedestrians at Sonic. 

A Butler Officer responded to Sonic where the Officer made contact with the driver, identified as Gabriel Radford. Gabriel Radford attempted to strike two people with a vehicle multiple times.

Gabriel Radford was taken into custody. A warrant for arrest was applied for and obtained. 

Mr. Radford is now being held at the Bates County Jail and has been charged with two counts of Assault in the First Degree with a bond of $45,000 Cash Only.

Obituary - Steve "Eddie" Webb

Steve “Eddie” Webb, 73 of Tightwad, Missouri passed away Friday, July 7, 2023 at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri. Steve Edward Webb was born on June 19, 1950 to Mamie and Ralph Webb in Christiansburg, Virginia. 

Steve spent his childhood and young adult years in Bluefield, West Virginia before settling in Christiansburg, Virginia where he married the love of his life Myra in 1971. He recently moved to Tightwad, Missouri to be closer to his children.

Steve worked many years for the Virginia Highway Department, Radford Arsenal and Tetra where he retired in August 2016. Steve was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed his time in the outdoors on Craigs Creek. He especially loved sharing his love of nature with his children and grandchildren. He was incredibly kind and generous in his life and continued his selfless generosity by donating his organs so others could live a healthy and full life as well. 

He never met a stranger and enjoyed his trips to the Amish Market auctions for his favorite pies and fresh produce that he and Myra would spend hours turning into delicious meals. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, could fix anything that was broken and took great joy and pride in teaching his sons these same skills.

Steve will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Myra Webb, their son James and daughter-in-law Katrina and their child, Nathan, Centerview, Missouri, their son Stacey Webb and daughter-in-law Marty, and their children, Jackson, Reagan, and Anderson, Warrensburg, Missouri, his sister Susie Seabolt, and brother-in-law Kelvin, Tazewell, Virginia, his brother Mike Webb, and sister-in-law, Tracy, Austinville, Virginia, his sister-in-law Sarah McCoy and her husband Mike, Christiansburg, Virginia, and a special aunt Glenda Caldwell. He also will be missed by many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Mamie Webb and a brother Vernon Webb.

Arrangements entrusted to Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

Osceola man seriously injured in St. Clair County crash

On Saturday July 8th around 5:11 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Clair County along with St. Clair County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Missouri 82 Highway just west of Osceola, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the eastbound 2017 Ford Explorer driven by 76 year old Charles R. Sheldon of Osceola, Missouri ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a culvert.

Mr. Sheldon sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was transported to Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri for treatment.

Warsaw man seriously injured in Benton County motorcycle crash

On Saturday July 8th around 1:10 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Benton County along with Benton County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a motorcycle accident on BB Highway and Fitzpatrick Avenue in Warsaw.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the westbound 1999 Harley Davidson Electra Glide driven by 75 year old Paul W. White of Warsaw, Missouri failed to negotiate a left hand curve, left the roadway and struck a sign before being ejected off the bike.

Paul W. White sustained serious injuries and he was transported by air ambulance to the University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia, Missouri for treatment.

Breaking News: Butler woman killed in Fatal ATV rollover accident

On Saturday July 8th around 11:41 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies, Bates County EMS and Amoret Fire Department responded to a ATV accident on CR NW 7001 just south of Missouri 52 Highway.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the southbound 2015 Polaris ATV driven by 34 year old Kayla D. Carroll of Butler, Missouri ran off the left side of the roadway, struck a fence before overturning and ejecting her from the ATV.

Kayla D. Carroll was pronounced dead at the scene of this accident by Bates County Coroner Greg D. Mullinax around 12:42 a.m.

This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 41st fatality of the year 2023. Next of kin has been notified.
