Nevada Fire Department gets new Aerial Ladder

The City of Nevada Fire Department is thrilled to announce a significant addition to its fleet of emergency vehicles with the acquisition of a 2001 Pierce Lance 105' Aerial Ladder. This impressive fire truck represents a major upgrade and will replace the aging 1999 Freightliner 75' ladder, reaffirming the city's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its residents.

The City's decision to invest in this high-quality used fire apparatus from Jon's Mid America at a cost of $199,500 demonstrates prudent fiscal responsibility. Recognizing the budgetary constraints faced by municipalities across the country, the City of Nevada opted for a pre-owned vehicle rather than purchasing a new one, which can typically range from $1.4 to $1.8 million dollars.

The acquisition of this Pierce Lance Aerial Ladder is a strategic move aimed at allocating resources efficiently. By choosing a cost-effective option that does not compromise on performance or safety, the City of Nevada aims to create a stable financial foundation for future fire department projects. This forward-thinking approach will position the city to generate revenue necessary for the development and purchase of a brand-new ladder truck in the next 5 to 8 years, further enhancing its emergency response capabilities.

Fire Chief Troy Denney expressed his enthusiasm for the new addition, stating, "The City of Nevada Fire Department is dedicated to providing top-notch emergency services to our community. This investment not only ensures the safety of our residents today but also sets the stage for a sustainable and secure future. We are proud to continue our tradition of excellence and unwavering commitment to public safety
