Douglas Edward Cass, 72, Metz, MO, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023 at his home. Doug was born October 28, 1951 in Beatrice, NE, to Edward Melvin and Elizabeth Ann (Gilham) Cass. He married his high school sweetheart, Theresa Rae Dougherty on November 21, 1969 in Beatrice, NE, and she survives of the home.
Doug was raised in Beatrice and graduated from Beatrice High School in 1970. Upon graduating high school, he went on to graduate from Culinary Art School and went to work for Bishops Cafeteria in Lincoln NE eventually working his way to manager. In 1988, he and Theresa came to Nevada where he worked at T.M. Deal Lumber, Ortho Flex Saddle, Midwest Lumber Company in Butler, and in the Pest Control Business for the past 20 years. In 2010 he began his own business, Doug Cass Pest Control, retiring from it in 2021. Doug enjoyed gardening, wood working, stamp collecting, raising chickens, researching genealogy and sharing with his grandchildren the history of his collections. Doug was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Nevada.
Survivors include six children: Aimee (Daniel) Steffes of Chilton, WI, Megan (Jimmy) Morris of Jasper, MO, Rebekah (Skip) Yoder of Nevada, MO, Hannah (Drew) Hinkle of Sheldon, MO, Elisabeth (Jacob) Mosher of Nevada, MO, Susanna (Mohsen) Dadashi of Fayetteville, AR; grandchildren: Abigail, Joseph, Noah (Rebekah), Christian, Elizabeth, Caleb, Isaac, Seth, Ethan & Gideon Steffes, Connor and Caitlin Cass, Krista, James, Joel, Drew, Lucas, Kailyn, Grant & Kinsley Morris, Levi, Katie Beth, Charis, Dawson, Evan, Lydiah & Micah Yoder, Erin Hinkle, Eleanor, Winston and Stella Mosher, Kamran Dadashi. Surviving siblings: BethAnn, Minnetonka, MN, Richard, Omaha, NE, and Dennis, North Carolina; mother of his son’s children, Melissa Cass, Australia. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Aaron Cass.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at Calvary Baptist Church in Nevada. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Mosher officiating. A private burial will be held in Pryor Creek Cemetery in Metz.

Bringing a fallen hero home
Several emergency first responders paid respect to a local fallen hero as the body of United States Army SFC Cody Lee Collett Cosner was brought home to Butler Tuesday evening.
Local emergency personnel stood on overpasses with American Flags in several cities as the escort for the fallen hero made its way down I-49 tonight.
The escort was provided by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Lees Summit Police Department. SFC Cosner died in North Carolina on December 10th.

The Lawrence Kansas Police Department requested the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) issue a statewide Silver Alert for a missing Lawrence man.
The whereabouts of 73-year-old Jerry Dean Adams are unknown, and the public’s assistance is requested to help locate him.
Jerry is likely driving a white 2002 Chevrolet full-size van bearing Kansas tag 008MFS. The van was last known leaving Lawrence on Monday, Dec. 11, around 9:15 a.m. He was reported missing on Tuesday, Dec. 19.
Jerry is described as a white male, approximately 5 foot 9 inches tall, and weighing around 300 pounds. He has brown eyes and gray and black hair. Jerry is a diabetic and also has a heart condition.

Obituary - Charles "Chuck" Leslie Feris
Charles "Chuck" Leslie Feris, 62, of Adrian, MO, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. His wishes were to be cremated and to have a celebration of life at a later date.
Chuck was born July 21, 1961 to Charles Logan Feris and Edna Merle (Reynolds) Feris. He graduated from Adrian R-3 High School with the class of 1979.

He married Marilyn Morrow on July 14, 1990 at the Adrian United Methodist Church. He retired from his job at the City of Lee's Summit Water Utilities in March of 2022 due to his illness after 15 years as a laborer and equipment operator.
Chuck was raised on a farm west of Adrian, where he farmed with his father and worked some for his neighbor Dan Weeks. His love for cattle never left him as he raised Santa Gertrudis in his early years and he always had a love for Brahman Cattle. He enjoyed many years serving on the Bates County Fair Board in his early adult life.
His many loves were his family, especially his new grandbabies, CharLee and Bert; sitting on the patio with friends and family; enjoying the koi pond; working in the yard; evenings at the fire pit at the party hut that he built; doing carpentry; welding; traveling; and his cattle. He was a workaholic and he rarely sat down before the sun went down.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his wife of 33 years; a son, Taylor (Hannah) Logan Feris, and their daughter, CharLee Anne Feris, of Jonesburg, MO; a daughter, Ali (Kyle) Rissa Niehaus, and their son, Bert Briscoe Niehaus, of Adrian, MO; his sister, Mary (Richard) Ladone Hettinger, of Cape Girardeau, MO; many nieces, nephews, great and great-great; his sisters-in-law: Carolyn Morrow and DonNeta Disselhoff both of Adrian, MO; Sue Pulliam of Harrisonville, MO; Dessa (Chester) Taylor of Alton, MO; Wilma Ramage of Morro Bay, CA; her brothers-in-law: Gary Callahan of Murray, KY; and Jim Nelson of Kansas City, MO.

Obituary - Robert “Bob” Leroy Bogart
Robert “Bob” Leroy Bogart, Sheldon, MO, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at his home at the age of 78. Bob was born November 8, 1945, in Sheldon, MO, to Robert Franklin and Georgia Corine (Ford) Bogart.
He graduated from Bronaugh High School and worked for Thorco Industries in Lamar, MO for over 30 years. Bob was very artistic, and he loved being around kids and playing computer games.
Bob is survived by a sister-in-law, Leslie Bogart, Sheldon, MO; three nieces, Vicki Wright and her husband Trent, Fort Scott, KS, Stacy Taylor, Sheldon, MO, and Melissa Griffitt, Sheldon, MO; one nephew Michael Bogart and his wife Shelby, Nevada, MO. Additional survivors include several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded by his parents, one sister, Roberta Cassatt and her husband Gary, and two brothers, Edward Allen Bogart and Larry Bogart.
