Pleasanton man injured in Linn County Kansas crash

On Friday March 22nd around 10:30 p.m. the Kansas State Highway Patrol in Linn County along with Linn County Kansas Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on U.S. 69 Highway just south of K-52 Highway in rural Linn County.

The Kansas State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by 38 year old Ian Keys of Pleasanton Kansas was southbound when he left the right side of the highway striking a guard rail and then crossed the roadway hitting a concrete barrier on the driver's side before the vehicle came to rest

Mr. Keys sustained minor injuries and was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Way to go welders!

Big congratulations to Sam Rider and Butler High School Senior Jacob Coratti for taking 2nd and 3rd respectively at Grand River Welding Institute yesterday! 

Sam and Jacob both earned scholarships and now plan on attending GRWI after graduation. With 8 students from NRTC competing yesterday, we earned a total of $24,000 in scholarship money. 

Also would like to congratulate Pike Lincoln Tech for their 1st place victory! It's always a pleasure competing against such a good program.

Obituary - Paulina May Graef

Paulina May Graef of Independence, Missouri former of Creighton, Missouri was born at home in Oak Grove, Missouri on February 12, 1931 to Elmer and Ruby Duncan. Paulina had lived in Oak Grove until she moved with her parents to a farm in Grain Valley, Missouri. She attended her school years in Grain Valley, graduating from high school in 1948. Paulina had no siblings, but first cousins, Norma Jean, Rosemary and Peggy Williams were like sisters, living close to Grain Valley, Missouri.

Paulina married Gerald Graef on January 23, 1969. A home was built on property next to Gerald’s mother and father in Creighton, Missouri where Gerald and Paulina farmed for 39 years. Gerald and Paulina hid not have children of their own, but enjoyed visits on their farm from many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. Paulina was baptized at the First Christian Church of Grain Valley and later transferred her membership to the Creighton Christian Church. She was active in the ladies circle and sang solos for many church services.

In 2008, Gerald and Paulina moved to a home in Harrisonville. Gerald passed away, at the age of 85 on May 14, 2012. Paulina then moved to the Villages of Jackson Creek in Independence, Missouri.

No services are scheduled with interment in the Blue Springs Cemetery, Blue Springs, Missouri.

 

Obituary - Melvin E. Tabor

Melvin (Mel) E. Tabor age 70 of Drexel, Missouri departed this life Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by love and family.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri. With Internment at Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.

Visitation will be held 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Elevated to significant fire danger Sunday

Minimum relative humidity values down to 25-35% and wind gusts up to 35-45 mph will lead to Elevated to localized pockets of Significant Fire Danger Sunday, mainly east of Highway 65. Fires can spread rapidly in these conditions. Outside burning is discouraged except by experienced fire personnel.



Structure fire last night in rural Butler

Shortly before 9:00 p.m. last night the Butler Fire Department along with mutual aide from the Adrian and Rich Hill Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 4423 SW State Route K Highway east of Butler.

The house sustained extensive damages and the Red Cross was called in to help assist the family.
