Way to go!

WORKING FOR YOU: Each and every week, the City of Harrisonville Combined Water and Sanitary Sewer crews work with underground utility lines, providing safe and efficient water and sewer services to the Harrisonville community.

This week, our CWSS crew was recognized for not only protecting themselves while digging to these underground lines, but also for protecting you.

The crew received the Silver Shovel Award from Spire Gas, as they took proactive steps to avoid damage to any gas lines in Harrisonville throughout all of 2023!

“These municipalities (Harrisonville) made the decision to put safety first for each and every dig,” said Alan Meyer, Spire Damage Prevention Manager.

We join Spire in thanking our CWSS staff for prioritizing the safety of our community as they complete their work day in and day out.

Shots fired in rural Pleasanton

On the afternoon of May 08, 2024, Citizens in the area of Scott Rd. west of Pleasanton, Kansas heard gunshots.

Later in the day, Citizens discovered damage to two properties east of the area where shots were heard, the landowners then reported the incident to the Sheriff’s Office. The damage was to a pickup truck and damage to a home.

An investigation was made into the incident and is still ongoing. We have learned that three persons were engaged in target practicing, and possibly were not considering what was beyond their target.

Upon the completion of this investigation, the matter will be provided to the Linn County Attorney, to consider any criminal charges.

We ask all our Citizens to be aware of:  The 5 Essential Firearms Safety Rules..

• Rule 1 – Treat Every Firearm as if it is Loaded.

• Rule 2 – Always Keep the Muzzle Pointed in a Safe Direction.

• Rule 3 – Keep Your Finger Off the Trigger Until Ready to Shoot.

• Rule 4 – Know Your Target and What's Beyond It.

• Rule 5 – Secure Firearms and Ammunition Safely.
