Adrian man arrested on assault charges

According to a complaint filed with the Associate District Court of Bates County, MO, Mark Eugene Tenholder of rural Adrian has been charged with two counts of Class D Felony 2nd degree Assault.

According to a Probable Cause Statement, at around 6:41 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4th, one of Tenholders alleged victims captured a video of him repeatedly driving in front of her house in a gray Ford F-250. 

The victim then went to dinner in Adrian, MO and as she was leaving the establishment she spotted Tenholder outside waiting for her. A second victim saw Tenholder as well and offered to drive the first victim to pick up her car. 

The second victim reported in the probable cause statement that Tenholder then allegedly started to follow someone connected to the two victims out of town so they decided to pick up the car at a later time. 

As the victims were driving down State Route 18 the first victim received a call from someone warning her Tenholder was waiting for them to drive by at a sports complex, so she started to record a video that eventually showed Tenholder's vehicle start to overtake the victims before allegedly going into the lane they were driving in and running them off the road.

According to the probable cause statement, while being interviewed by a Bates County Sheriff's Deputy the first victim gave the deputy an address where Tenholder might be located. 

The Deputy then went to that address and spotted the Ford F250 shown in both videos in the driveway before making contact with Tenholder at the door. Tenholder told the deputy he overtook a vehicle on Missouri State Route 18 but did not run anyone off the road. 

Mr. Tenholder then said he would make a statement at the jail but once Tenholder and the deputy arrived there he no longer wanted to.

According to the probable cause statement, Tenholder currently has an Order of Protection against him from the first victim and has already violated it multiple times.

Mr. Tenholder was put in jail on a 24-hour hold Tuesday night, A warrant for Tenholder's arrest was made Wednesday, June 5th with bond set at $20,000.

Arrest made in Cass County

Late last night and early this morning the Criminal Apprehension Unit conducted directed patrol activities, resulting in the arrest of eight people.

One of those arrests came shortly after 9:30 p.m. when a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations as the driver traveled southbound on I-49. after the deputy activated his emergency lights — continuing northbound on I-49 from 58 Highway.

The deputy successfully deployed his Grappler, with the pursuit ending near the 163rd St. exit in Belton.

The driver has since been identified as 41-year-old Stacey Coston of Peculiar. Coston has two active warrants out of Platte County, Missouri and an active felony warrant out of Leavenworth County, Kansas.

While doing a search, deputies found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the car Coston was driving. She is currently being held at the Cass County jail with charges pending from last night’s arrest. The directed patrol activities led to 45 car stops and eight arrests, including this one.

Chances of storms returns

Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected the next few days. The strongest storms are expected Friday night into Saturday morning, when storms will be capable of producing large hail and locally heavy rainfall.

Free sack lunches daily from the Carpenters Cup

On Monday, June 3rd started our sack lunches. Just 3 days in and these lunches have been a huge success! People have donated food, paper products and money. Businesses have really stepped up to help with meals. We have purchased food from the donated money to last us until the end of next week. 

These meals will continue through August 2nd, God willing! We do still have a need for kitchen help and for delivery on the square and at the park just north of the Aquatic Center.

Obituary - Thayne Steyer

Thayne Steyer, age 84, formerly of Deepwater, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on September 22, 1939, in Waterloo, Iowa the son of Harley and Winnifred (Baltzer) Sauer Steyer and his step father Jack Steyer

Thayne grew up in Waterloo and on December 13, 1958, was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Shirley Stocks. Together, they established their home in Crain Lake, Minnesota, later relocating to Albuquerque, New Mexico and finally settling in Lee's Summit, Missouri, in 1967. After retirement in 2008, Shirley and Thayne moved to Deepwater, Missouri, where they enjoyed their later years together.

Thayne is survived by his four loving children: Dodie Blankenship (Earl) of Bolivar, Missouri; Virginia Holtzclaw (Jerry) of Chandler, Arizona; Connie Robinson (Daryl) of Warsaw, Missouri; and Douglas Steyer (Rebecca) of Clinton, Missouri. He leaves behind a legacy in his ten cherished grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one grandson, and one granddaughter.

Memorial services to honor Thayne Steyer's life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 7, 2024 at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M.

Road work today in Harrisonville

ROAD WORK: Today, at around 1 p.m., Superior Bowen will be laying new asphalt on Locust Street, between Commercial Street and Industrial Boulevard.

This will be the same location they worked in last week. One lane of the road will remain open during the work, and a flagging operation will be in place.

If you are able to avoid this section of Locust St while crews are in the area, please do so. If not, one lane will be open but drivers are asked to move carefully.
