Obituary - Harvey “Julius” Grasher, Jr.
Harvey “Julius” Grasher, Jr., of Urich, Missouri, died on June 6, 2024, at age 97.
He was born March 7, 1927, in the family home near Hartwell, Missouri, to Harvey and Wilhemina (Minnie) Voss Grasher. Immediately after his 18th birthday, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he joined fellow Americans serving in World War II.
After the war, he returned home to marry the girl he left behind, Anne Mills of Garden City, Missouri. Julius and Anne were married on Feb. 12, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri. After trying the “city” life for a year, they returned to the rural area of Urich.
Julius was a life-long farmer, raising cattle and row crops until his health prevented his physical participation. From then until his death, he managed the farm from his recliner. He drove or was driven to the fields to check crops and enjoyed riding in the combine during each and every growing season.
Julius was a true outdoorsman. For many years, he and his father operated Grasher Lake, one of the first duck hunting lakes in the area. He enjoyed hunting ducks, geese, squirrel and deer on the land he owned. His greatest outdoor love was trapping. He spent many winters walking around local lakes, running his trap lines. His anticipation for what the next trap held never dimmed.
Julius is survived by his daughters, Linda (Jim) Kelsay, Shirley Deroush, Bonnie (Steve) Taomae, and Marilyn (John) Jarnevic, all of Urich, Missouri; 8 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Anne, and one great-granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to: Ducks Unlimited, in memory of H. Julius Grasher Jr. And be left in the care of Consalus Funeral Home, 209 S. 2ND Street, Clinton, MO. 64735.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 12th at 9:30 a.m. with the funeral to follow at 10:00 a.m. at the Consalus Funeral Home in Clinton.
