Obituary - Miccie Jane Hale

Miccie Jane Hale age 68 of Peculiar, Missouri departed this life Friday, June 14, 2024 at her home in Peculiar, Missouri.

A combined service for Miccie and Steve Hale will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2024 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with internment at Palestine Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.

A visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Kansas Police chase ends in Bates County

At Approximately 1:00 AM on 5/24/2024 while conducting Special Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P)LaCygne Police Department officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of 4th Street and Market Street for a minor traffic violation.

The suspect vehicle fled eastbound recklessly through the city at a high rate of speed disregarding the safety of the residents of LaCygne. The suspect vehicle fled toward Bates County, MO on K152 and onto E 2200 Rd in eastern Linn County.

Bates County Deputies were notified that Kansas Officers were in pursuit of a GMC pickup truck entering their county. The suspect vehicle traveled through Amsterdam and headed south toward Amoret; continuing onto Y Highway and turned onto 4002.

The vehicle attempted to turn onto State Line Road before leaving the roadway and through a fence; becoming immobile. The occupant, later identified as Ryan Templeton, 43 fled on foot from the vehicle. Officers set up a perimeter until Bates County Deputies arrived on scene. Prior to a K9 arriving on scene a Deputy deployed a drone and located subject in the woods lying in a creek bed. The drone was able to guide K9 Falco (BCSO) and officers to the subject where he was taken into custody by Falco and held in place until officers could assist.

Templeton was taken to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries from Falco. The truck was found to be stolen along with the license plate on the vehicle and another plate inside the vehicle. Templeton has a very extensive criminal history with multiple priors for tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest. Templeton had posted bond on an unrelated warrant earlier in the day.

Templeton has been charged in Bates County with receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and property damage in Bates County. Bond was set at $20,000 cash only. Templeton has additional charges through LaCygne Police Department that will be filed through district court after a thorough investigation. Interim Chief Haley says, "I am very proud of my officers for the way the way they handled this incident.

We have received a lot of grief from the public for working extra hours on the streets and conducting more traffic stops than usual. We aim to target unrestrained drivers/passengers and DUI activity, but if we run into something else in the process, we will handle it accordingly. This is what happens when you run from the police! We will pursue you and take you into custody with the tools we have available; including a K9 and a drone!

I appreciate Bates County Sheriff Chad Anderson and his Deputies assisting with our event and the investigation. They have always been there when we have needed them without question whether it is on our side of the line or theirs. Their professionalism is unmatched and have helped on numerous cases in the past they don't receive credit for."

Two arrested for drug trafficking in Osceola

On June 13, 2024, Osceola Police Officer Kauffman conducted a traffic stop in Osceola City Limits on a vehicle for speeding. Officer Kauffman observed the passenger attempting to hide something behind the driver's seat along with other signs of possible narcotic use regarding the passenger. Officer Tucker and St. Clair County Deputies arrived on the scene to assist.

Chief French and K9 Bek with Fair Play PD arrived on the scene and K9 Bek conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle.Officer Kauffman and Officer Tucker conducted a probable cause search of the car and located two bags with a large amount of crystal substance where Officer Kauffman observed the passenger hide something.

The bags field tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed approximately half of a pound (235 grams). The driver was identified as David Russell out of Springfield, Missouri. The passenger was identified as Joseph Oliver out of Branson, Missouri. Both occupants were transported to the St. Clair County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold for Trafficking Drugs-2nd Degree-Over statutory amount.

The charges were sent to prosecuting attorney Daniel Dysart. Below are the charges that were filed along with the bond amounts.

Three arrests made after traffic stop in Pittsburg Kansas

On Wednesday night, June 12, 2024, at approximately 9:36 PM, law enforcement officers with the Pittsburg Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for traffic violations in the 1000 block of E. 10th Street, in Pittsburg. Pittsburg Narcotics Investigators assisted with the traffic stop.

The Pittsburg Police Department’s K9 Officer was requested to assist with this traffic stop and as officers asked the occupants to exit the vehicle the front seat passenger, identified as 22-year-old William Tyrone Andre Phillips, of Parsons, climbed into the driver’s seat from the front passenger seat and drove away from the traffic stop.

As Mr. Phillips drove away, he nearly struck officers with the vehicle. Officers began pursuing Mr. Phillips while other officers detained the two passengers who previously exited the vehicle. A brief vehicle pursuit ended when Mr. Phillips abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot.

With a coordinated effort between officers, concerned citizens calling in, and the department’s K9, Mr. Phillips was located and taken into custody without incident. Inside the abandoned vehicle numerous suspected counterfeit fentanyl pills were located as well as a handgun.

After Mr. Phillips was placed under arrest Officers searched the area for property discarded by Mr. Phillips. Pittsburg PD K9 Officer backtracked the route of the pursuit and located a box containing a large quantity of suspected counterfeit fentanyl pills believed to be discarded during the pursuit.

The two occupants, 45-year-old Jermaine Justin Oliver, of Fort Scott, and 24-year-old Tyreek Tutwiler, of Parsons, who were detained at the location of the original traffic stop, were found to have warrants for their arrest. Mr. Oliver had a traffic warrant out of Crawford County Kansas and Mr. Tutwiler had a traffic warrant out of Labette County Kansas. Both Mr. Tutwiler and Mr. Oliver were also found to be in possession of suspected counterfeit fentanyl pills.

Mr. Phillips was arrested for felony flee and elude, two counts of felony aggravated assault on law enforcement officer, felony distribution of narcotics, possession of narcotics, felony interference with law enforcement, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor driving while a habitual violator.

Mr. Tutwiler was arrested for his Labette County warrant, felony distribution of narcotics, felony possession of narcotics, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mr. Oliver was arrested for his Crawford County warrant, felony distribution of narcotics, felony possession of narcotics, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mr. Phillips, Mr. Tutwiler, and Mr. Oliver were transported to the jail at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office for booking and are currently being held without bond.

In total an estimated more than 1,000 suspected fentanyl pills were located stemming from this incident.

Mr. Phillips, Mr. Tutwiler, and Mr. Oliver are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
