Obituary - Rebecca Lynn Bockes



Rebecca Lynn "Becky" Bockes, 66, of Mound City, Kansas died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Olathe Medical Center. Becky was born August 28, 1957 in Bryan, Texas to Cecil Alva and Pattybea (Walsh) Graham. Becky graduated from Hickman Mills High School in Kansas City, Missouri with the Class of 1975. On September 11, 1976, in Kansas City, Missouri, Becky married her high school sweetheart, Henry Stuart "Harry" Bockes, Jr. Becky and Harry loved to ride motorcycles and go camping. Becky particularly enjoyed fishing for crappie and trout. She absolutely loved to read. But her children and grandchildren were the light of her life.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Marci Ann Betts on May 9, 2024; and one step-sister. She is survived by her husband of almost 48 years, Harry; two sons, J.P. (Amanda) Bockes, and Marc (Brie) Bockes; one daughter, Michelle Bockes-Griffin (Danny); two brothers, Cecil Graham, Jr. and George Graham; one sister, Barbara Roland; seven grandchildren, Cailin, Paige, Kolby, Kaleb, Steven, Addison, Aiden, and three great-grandchildren; one step-brother; and one step-sister, and seven step grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life for Becky will be held from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the Pleasanton Community Center. The family suggests contributions to Rebecca Lynn Bockes Memorial to help defray funeral costs in care of Schneider Funeral Home, PO Box J, Mound City, KS 66056. Obituary - Shirley Ann Zehr

Shirley Ann Zehr, 89, Nevada, MO, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Medicalodges of Nevada. Shirley was born November 26, 1934, in Horton, MO to Joseph B. and Marie K. (Grove) Perry. She was united in marriage to Leroy Zehr on December 3, 1955, in Kansas City, MO and he preceded her in death.

Shirley was raised in Horton and later Pittsburg, KS. Although she and Leroy lived in Kansas City for a time, she lived most of her life in the Horton area. Shirley worked at Nelly Don in Nevada and was also an area Avon Representative for a number of years. She was a member of the Horton United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her son, Randy Zehr (Nancy), Spring Hill, KS; three grandchildren, Tiffany Luchies (Zach), Olathe, KS, Travis Zehr (Erin), Grandview, MO, and Tyler Zehr, Springhill, KS; four great-grandchildren, Kenzie, Kaylee, Caiden, and Nora; and a brother, Bill Perry, Nevada. In addition to her husband, Leroy, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 1-2:00 p.m. at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with graveside services following at 2:30 p.m. at Balltown Cemetery in Horton with Pastor Bob Beaver officiating.

Memorials are suggested to Horton United Methodist Church in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.

Warsaw man drowns while fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks on Friday


A Benton County man drowned at Lake of the Ozarks on Friday, August 9, 2024. The incident occurred around 12:00 PM near the 90 mile marker of the lake.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Steven F. Bucklinger, a 69 year-old man from Warsaw was fishing from his 2002 Triton boat when he fell overboard for an unknown reason. Bucklinger was not wearing a flotation device at the time of the incident and drown.

After the incident, Bucklinger’s body was recovered and taken to Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw. The boat was towed from the scene and released to Bucklinger’s family.

Several members of the MSHP assisted in the response, including Sergeant B.N. Comer, Trooper C.S. Riley, Sergeant C.W. Hoff and Corporal B.V. Cole.

Two juveniles from Harrisonville injured in Johnson County ATV accidentt

On Sunday August 11th around 10:00 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Johnson County along with the Johnson County Sheriff's Deputies responded to an ATV accident on US 50 east of NW 1501 Rd. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occured when the 2022 Kayo Storm ATV driven by a 12 year old juvenile of Harrisonville, Missouri attempted to negotiate a turn. The vehicle began to slide and became airborne. 

The passenger a 12 year old juvenile of Harrisonville, Missouri jumped from the ATV before it returned to the ground. When the ATV returned to the ground, it overturned, landing on the driver. 

The driver in this crash sustained serious injuries and was transported by EMS to Children's Mercy Hospital for treatment. 

The occupant in this crash sustained minor injuries and was also transported by EMS to Children's Mercy Hospital.

Pleasant Hill women injured in Cass County accident

On Sunday August 11th around 11:35 a.m the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with the Cass County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on northbound MO 291 south of Home Farm Road.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occured when the north bound 2013 Ford Fusion driven by a 40 year old Amanda J. McBride of Pleasant Hill, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a culvert.

Amanda J. McBride sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Cass County EMS to Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, Missouri.

Butler man escapes serious injury in Henry County rollover crash

On Saturday August 10th around 11:00 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County along with the Henry County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a rollover accident on K-Highway north of SW 400 Rd. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occured when the south bound 2016 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 26 year old Kaleb J. Cook of Butler, Missouri failed to negotiate a turn, traveled off of the roadway, struck a culvert, and overturned. The Silverado came to rest on its top facing north.

Mr. Cook sustained minor injuries but refused treatment on the scene of the accident.
