Obituary - Glenn Brewer

 Glenn E. Brewer

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Glenn Edward Brewer, who died peacefully at the age of 89 on January 9, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was a cherished husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Glenn was born on April 22, 1935, to Edward Wallace Brewer and Lona Vivian (Deshazer) Brewer in Freeman, MO. As one of 10 siblings, he called both Kansas and Missouri home, most recently residing in Harrisonville, MO, with the love of his life, Gloria.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Helen and Rosemary; siblings Mary Moraine, Don, Vincil, Vivian, Virgil, and Gerald Brewer; and his children Glenn Brewer Jr. and Rebecca (Brewer) Ross, and son in laws Roger Barker and Tom Fleming.

Glenn is survived by his devoted wife, Gloria Brewer; siblings Shirley (Brewer) Moraine, John Brewer and wife Sheran, and Sharon (Brewer) Coble and husband Briane; his children LaVon (Brewer) Gatewood and husband Gary, Vickie (Brewer) Barker, Mary (Brewer) Fleming, James Brewer and wife Frankie, April Stecher and husband Chris, and daughter-in-law Jackie Brewer.

He was a proud grandfather to Tron, Lee, Helen, Ryan, Stacy, Eric, Amandia, Jerilynn, April, Jennifer, Brandy, Gina, Sarah, Chris, Lisa, Charlie, Calean, Hayden, and Macy. His legacy spans over five generations as he is also celebrated by numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

A jack-of-all-trades, Glenn spent the majority of his career at General Motors before retiring in 1988. Retirement brought him the opportunity to travel, visit family and friends, and enjoy camping at Pomme de Terre Lake.

Glenn was a firm believer in the value of hard work, often reminding those around him that “nothing worth having comes easy.” He carried himself with quiet strength, commanding respect, while maintaining a giving heart and a readiness to lend a hand to a friend or a stranger.

A celebration of life will be held later this year, when the flowers are in bloom, the sun is shining, and the grass is ready to mow—a season Glenn cherished. Known for his love of mowing, evidenced by his impressive collection of riding lawn mowers, this time of year was truly his favorite.

Glenn leaves behind a legacy of integrity, faith, and a profound love for his family. His no-nonsense wisdom, steady presence, and yes, even his occasional stubbornness, will be deeply missed. He was the anchor of his family, demonstrating what it means to live a purposeful, strong, and fulfilling life.

Conexon Connect and Osage Valley Electric Cooperative ready to serve Butler homes and businesses

Conexon Connect and Osage Valley Electric Cooperative complete construction for all-fiber network in City of Butler and are ready to connect homes and businesses.

Leading rural internet provider Conexon Connect, in partnership with Osage Valley Electric Cooperative, proudly announces the completion of the Connect, powered by Osage Valley Electric, all-fiber network in the city of Butler. The completion of this network extension was made possible due to the joint commitment to enhance digital connectivity within Missouri’s rural communities.

The journey to fiber internet in central west Missouri began in February 2022, when Osage Valley Electric started connecting its members to the Connect, powered by Osage Valley Electric, fiber-to-the-home network. By fall 2024, Connect completed the on-system network build, delivering state-of-the-art internet services to members across seven counties.

Recognizing the impact of high-speed internet for rural communities, the city of Butler and Osage Valley Electric partnered with Conexon Connect to launch the extension of the Connect network in June 2024 to deliver cutting-edge connectivity to Butler residents and businesses.

Less than six months after the project announcement, the Butler network expansion was completed. This swift turnaround underscores the dedication and collaboration between the city of Butler, Osage Valley Electric and Conexon Connect.

“The city of Butler's willingness to collaborate and forward-thinking approach have been pivotal in making high-speed internet a reality for our community,” said Jarrod Campbell, CEO of Osage Valley Electric. “This partnership demonstrates the power of community-driven initiatives in bridging the digital divide and enhancing quality of life.”

Internet packages start as low as $49.95 per month for speeds up to 100 Mbps – with symmetrical upload and download speeds – and no data caps or throttling. Multi-Gigabit speed is available for power users: $79.95 per month for 1 Gig or $99.95 for 2 Gig service. HD-quality voice service is also available starting at $29.95 per month.

With the completion of this project, Butler residents can now enjoy seamless, high-speed internet access, opening doors to new educational, economic and social opportunities. Those interested in service can sign up today at ConexonConnect.com or by calling the Conexon Connect Care team at 1-844-542-6663.
