Obituary - Marcia D. Southard

Marcia D. Southard, 96, of Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. A visitation will be held at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Friday, December 26, 2025, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial in Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.

Structure fire in Archie

The Adrian fire department has been called to assist with a structure fire on Ford road in Archie, exact address unknown. Please us caution of traveling in the area.

Hey Cass County — we have TWENTY new phlebotomists! These seniors from Archie School District, Belton School District #124, Drexel, Harrisonville High School, Lone Jack Middle and High School, Midway R-I School, and Pleasant Hill R-3 School District accomplished this incredible milestone while also participating in advanced internships this semester. That's a 100% pass rate for Cass Advanced Health Services!

Obituary - Sutton Ivan Painter

Sutton Ivan Painter, infant son of Stephen G. Painter and Lillian R. Lawrence, was born December 18, 2025, at Nevada Regional Medical Center where he entered the Gates of Heaven.

     In addition to his loving parents, he is survived by a sister, Brynlee Lawrence, Nevada, MO; grandmother, Vanessa Lawrence, Nevada, MO; grandfather, Ed Lawrence, Stockton, MO; his aunt, Sarah Carter (Randy Bragg), Gray Court, South Carolina; great-grandmother, Ann Painter, El Dorado Springs, MO; great-grandmother, Terry Shepard (Tracy Shepard), Nevada, MO; great-grandparents, Maurice and Sherry High, Nevada, MO; uncle, Tanner Painter, El Dorado Springs, MO; and great-uncle, Brandon High, Nevada, MO.  He was preceded in death by great-grandfather, Richard Ivan Painter; aunt, Ashley Lawrence; and great-grandparents, Sonny and Ruth Lawrence.

     There are no services planned at this time.

Obituary - Debby Jones

Debra “Debby” Lee Jones, age 73 of Nevada, MO, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Freeman Hospital West, in Joplin, MO.

     Debby was born January 31, 1952, in Osceola, MO to Stewart Harris and Violet Marie (Carl) Love.  She was a high school graduate and worked as a certified nursing assistant.  She later furthered her career and became a registered nurse, working in home healthcare, as well as in nursing homes. Debby was a Baptist and enjoyed knitting and cooking and especially enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to cook.  On May 13, 1982, she married John L. Jones in Harrisonville, MO, and he survives of the home.

     In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, John Jones Jr. and his wife Shelly, Harrisonville, MO, Stewart Love, Grandsville, UT, Charles Jones and his partner, Ethel Voigt, Nevada, MO, Steven Young, Nevada, MO,  Matthew Jones, Nevada, MO, Andrew Jones and his wife Jules, Palm Coast, FL, Joseph Jones, Daytona Beach, FL, Anthony Rivera, Daytona Beach, FL, Peggy Campbell and her husband Earl, Colorado Springs, CO, Samantha Stewart and her husband Don, Poteau, OK, and Paulline Jones, Butler, MO.  Additional survivors include a brother, Jimmy Love, Stark, FL; a sister, Dianne Barr and her husband Dennis, Mansfield, MO; 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

     A Memorial Service will be announced.   Memorials may be made to Ferry Funeral Home to help with family expenses.
