Cash Dash to support Wyatt Deel

At the Sherwood vs. Drexel football game tonight we will be having a Cash Dash to support Wyatt Deel. Wyatt is a senior at Drexel High School who was diagnosed with brain cancer in May 2017. He is currently undergoing treatments at St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis TN. 

During halftime we will collect donations for 1 minute. There will be volunteers standing around the bleachers ready to take your money. 

So dash to the nearest person! Please join us in supporting Wyatt and his family.

At the Bates County Courthouse today

At the Bates County Courthouse today, James Mattingley pleaded guilty today to the class C Felony of Possession. Sentencing for Mattingley will be on November 30, 2017.

Also on today’s docket were Michael Morris and Tammy Walker.
Morris admitted to violating his probation by possession a controlled substance. Judge James Journey revoked his probation and sent Mattingly to the Missouri Department of Corrections for 120 days shock time with a 6 year back up.

Tammy Walker also admitted to violating her probation by failing to report possession and use of a controlled substance. Judge Journey revoked Walker’s probation and sent her to serve her 120 days in drug treatment with a 7 year back up.

Other cases heard by the Judge Journey today included,

Travis Smith pleaded guilty to burglary and tampering and was remanded to the Missouri Department of Corrections to begin serving a 4 year sentence.
Rob Hill was remanded to the Missouri Department of Corrections after he was found to be in violation of his probation for using a controlled substance. Judge Journey sent Hill to the MDOC for 120 days.



Prosecuting Attorney Hugh C. Jenkins represented the State in these cases.





Clinton man arrested on St. Clair County Warrant

Jacob Linthincum
On Sept. 27, Jacob Linthincum, 23, Clinton, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant for a probation violation on an original charge of a class D felony of unlawful use of a weapon. Bond is set at $2,500 cash only.

The original charges stem from an incident on April 15, 2014, when Linthincum reportedly pulled a gun on a repossession agent.

Rich Hill man arrested in Appleton City

Russell Morris
On Sept. 26, Russell Morris, 18, Rich Hill, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class A misdemeanor for violating an order of protection.

A St. Clair County deputy was advised to respond to W. Fourth St. in Appleton City in reference to an order of protection violation. Morris was asked about his protection order and was told to leave by the deputy. 


Mr. Morris became upset because he thought the protection order was over. It was found that Morris was in violation of the protection order and was placed under arrest and booked into the St. Clair County Jail in Osceola.

Obituary - Dorothy Ann Miller


Dorothy Ann Miller, age 86, Hume, Missouri passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017. She was born at St. Louis, Missouri on December 1, 1930 the daughter of Claude and Augusta Copeland Davis. She married Frank Miller who preceded her in death on May 1, 1996. Dorothy worked as a purchasing agent for Borg-Warner. 

After retirement, she worked as a bank teller. She was an artistic person who enjoyed drawing and sewing. She was also preceded in death by a sister Delphine Kreider. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Sharon Rosendahl, a brother, William Davis, a sister Claudine Norman, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
