Obituary - Thelma Hammett

Funeral services for Thelma Hammett will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation will be prior to services from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in East Mt. Zion Cemetery, LaCygne, Kansas. Contributions to Amoret Christian Church. Thelma Lucille Hammett, age 92 of Butler, Missouri died Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Butler Center in Butler. She was born December 3, 1926 to Carl David and Beulah Adelia Payne Culbertson in Amoret, Missouri.

Thelma is survived by a son, Raymond Hammett and wife Marilyn of Foster, Missouri; two daughters, Julie Noel and husband Jerry and Judith Stuart and husband Scott all of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; a half sister, Beulah Johnson of Osawatomie, Kansas; 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Hammett; two brothers, Harry and Leland Culbertson; three half brothers, Lucian, Wilbur and Wayne.



Obituary - Gregory "Greg" Loteckie

Gregory "Greg" Loteckie, 59, of Raymore, Missouri passed away January 26, 2019 at his home. He was born August, 7, 1959 in Kansas City, MO, son of Raymond & Earlene Loteckie.

Greg is survived by the final love of his life, Kelly Hoffman, six children: Stacy (Greg) Sullivan, Frontenac, KS, Melissa (Steve) Ludwig, Overland Park, KS, Jennifer Loteckie, Independence, MO, Corey (Amy) Hite, Pittsburg, KS, Erica (Brandon) Ray, Mt. Pleasant, TX & Shawn Loteckie, Raymore, MO, his sister, Kim (Tony) Koury of Kansas City, MO, his stepfather, Val Lemos, Kansas City, MO, 14 grandchildren & several nieces & nephews & best friend, Randy (Julie) Richerson, Raymore, MO.

He was preceded in death by his father, grandmother, grandfather, mother & wife of 24 years, Judy Loteckie.

Greg graduated from Ruskin High School in 1977 & attended Longview Community College. He was a dedicated truck driver for QT for 25 years. He had plans to retire this year. He was a fierce competitor & a kind gentleman. He loved sports, but especially the game of golf & the friendships associated with the game. He held several titles that include: 2013 KCGA Masters Champion, 2014 KCGA Heart of America 4 ball Champion with Don Kuehn, 2 time club champion at Eagles Landing & 2 holes in one. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren & had become very fond of their horses: Sparky & Rocky.

A celebration of life for family & friends will be held at his home on Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 11a-1p.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association 6800 93rd St, Overland Park, KS 66212.

Eldorado Springs man arrested in Polk County

On 1/28/19 around 9:34am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Polk County arrested 36 year old Dustin L. Whitworth of Eldorado Springs, Missouri.

Mr. Whitworth was arrested for 1.) Felony Christian County Sheriff's Office Warrant - Passing Bad Checks 2.) Springfield Police Department Warrant - Failure to Display and Valid License Plate 3.) No Seat Belt.

He was booked into the Polk County Jail in Bolivar and he is currently listed as bondable.

Butler man arrested in Bates County

On 1/28/19 around 9:26am The Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 39 year old Michael S. Nichols of Butler, Missouri.

Mr. Nichols was arrested for 1.) Felony Driving While Intoxicated 2.) Driving While Revoked- 3rd or Subsequent Offense 3.) Speed 4.) Lane Violation.

Michael S. Nichols was booked into the Bates County Jail and he is currently listed as bondable.

Obituary - Danita Kay (Evans) Bright

Danita Kay Bright, 59, Nevada, MO passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 at her home in Nevada. Danita was born December 27, 1959 in Knob Noster, MO to Billy Joel Evans, Sr. and Janette Lee (Long) Evans.

Danita was raised in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High Class of 1978. She attended nursing school at Ft. Scott Community College and received her degree as a Registered Nurse. Following her school years she worked as an RN in various area hospitals including Nevada Regional Medical Center and Heartland Hospital.

Danita was preceded in death by a sister Deborah Klinksick. She is survived by four children; Darrick Crooks (Brooke) Columbia MO, Dakota Bright (Whitney) K.C. MO, Darcy Bond, Nevada, and Darian Steele, Joplin MO; three granddaughters, Baylor Crooks, Callan Crooks, and Laken Crooks; parents, Bill Sr. and Janette Evans, Nevada; sister, Barbara Bell (Gary) Clovis, NM; brother Billy Evans Jr., Nevada, several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the Community Center in Nevada, MO.

Ralph Ivan Dodds, age 86 of Butler, Missouri died Sunday, January 27, 2019 at his home in rural Butler. He was born February 29, 1932 to Jessie Ralph and Delma M. Shaner Dodds in Wakefield, Kansas.

Ivan is survived by three sons, Caroll Dodds and wife Pam of Butler, Missouri, Tim Dodds and wife Nancy of Danville, Kentucky and Mitchell Dodds and wife Sheri of Clinton, Missouri; one daughter, Denise Hagberg of Butler, Missouri; one brother, Ira Dodds and wife Carol of Lebo, Kansas; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wilma Dodds in 2018; three brothers, Lee, Gene and Mervin Dodds; five sisters, Florence Watkins, Thelma Servais, Hazel Hill, Fern Jaymes and Ivy Payne; and son-in-law, Bob Hagberg.

For clarity, the Chestnut Street Clinic is open as usual.

After 55 years of round the clock continuous service to the people of Bates Co, Dr. Long is currently on sabbatical and enjoying his good health, good marriage, cows, and special granddaughter. The Chestnut street location is open and serving as it has been under the direction of  supervisor Gay Nissen, RN, Dr. Henderson and the full team of employees. Current staff includes Dr. Curtis Long, M.D.; Dr. Lindsay Henderson, M.D., Kristin Waugh NP-FNP.

The clinic, founded by Dr. Luter, taken over by Dr. Long, has been a continuous operation for 80+ years and will continue to serve the next generations of Bates County well into the future. 

As stated "We will continue to provide family care as well as urgent care and we are looking at every way to improve and evolve with the times to better serve."
