Obituary - Suzanne May Bate

Suzanne May Bate (78) of Rich Hill, Missouri joined our Lord in eternal peace on Friday, October 23, 2020.

Suzanne was born on September 14, 1942 to Walter Harold and Dorothy May (Golden) Garrett in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri. Her career tended to revolve around different aspects of the trucking industry. She blessed many by sharing her skills and love of crochet, knitting, sewing and crafting in general. 

She had an amazing capacity to tell a dozen stories in the process of trying to tell just one. She never met a stranger, all were just unacquainted friends. 

Suzanne is survived by her sister, Patricia Horst, children: Lorinda Eissler, Sondra (Derald) Milner, Robert (Dee) Simmons, Michael Simmons, Meredith (Michael) Sanders, Gregory (Christina) Ferguson, Jennifer Miller, numerous grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter, one niece, one nephew, and friends. 

Suzanne is preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Bolin, several grandchildren, her spouses, her parents, and one nephew.

A Thanksgiving style potluck dinner for the Celebration of life of Suzanne is scheduled on November 21, 2020 at 12 noon at

American Legion
6th and Walnut
Rich Hill, Mo 64779.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes stories and pictures that are reminiscent of Suzanne and her zest for life and story telling.

Cedar County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) identified that it was the victim of a ransomware event on October 21, 2020. Upon learning of this incident, we took swift action to initiate our response protocol. Third party experts that have helped other health care providers respond to similar issues have been engaged, and we have notified the FBI.

We want to be clear that our investigation into this matter is ongoing, and we are working around the clock to better understand the scope and nature of this incident. As an initial step to secure our systems, an endpoint security tool has been installed on devices across our network.

Unfortunately, we are one of many public health institutions that have been the victims of these type of attacks in the recent weeks and months as cyber criminals seek to profit from disruptions to vital services and systems. 

As we move forward, our response is being guided by our first priority – patient care. We have and will continue to provide quality care to our patients despite this challenge.

Obituary - Chad Allen Boswell

Chad Allen Boswell, 46, of Arma, KS, died Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Taberville, Missouri, due to a boating accident.

Funeral Services in Mexico will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, at Arnold Funeral Home with burial in East Lawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral Home.

Mr. Boswell was born February 10, 1974, in Mexico, MO, the son of Phillip Dean and Vicky (Gish) Boswell. He married Heidi Karrio on April 6, 1993, at Mt. Home, Idaho. Heidi survives at the home.

Chad was raised in Mexico, MO and graduated from Mexico High School. He loved golfing, fishing, hunting, woodworking and mechanical hobbies.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during Desert Storm and was a member of the Lon Helm Post #182 American Legion at Arma.

Chad was a plant operations director for the Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada, MO. He had been a resident of Arma since 2003.

Survivors include his wife Heidi; three sons, Colby (Irene) Boswell of Roeland Park, KS and Nathen and Branden Boswell, both of the home; mother and step-father, Vicky Boswell-Hoover and Robert Hoover of Mexico, MO; sister, Shana (Clint) House of Holts Summit, MO; maternal grandparents, Richard and Margaret Gish of Mexico, MO; nieces, Paislee and Paityn House; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Dean Boswell; and paternal grandparents, Charles W. and Lillian Fay Boswell.

Obituary - Jesse Forrest Richardson

Jesse F. Richardson, 79, Cleveland, Missouri passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, MO. A memorial service will be held 11:00am Saturday, November 14, 2020, with a visitation from 10:00-11:00am at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.

Jesse was born October 12, 1941 at the family home in West Line, MO and was a 1959 graduate of Cass Midway High School in Cleveland. He was united in marriage to JoAnn Bradley on September 5, 1959, at the home of Rev. Joe Brewster in rural Harrisonville. Jesse was a life long area resident. Jesse was a machinist, and worked for Reynolds Aluminum and later a line supervisor at Ball Corporation in Kansas City before his retirement in 2004. Jesse was well known as a singer and guitarist in many area country western bands.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Clint Douglas Richardson; a grandson, Christopher Richardson; four brothers: Clifford “Gene” Richardson, Stanley “Bud” Richardson, Bob Richardson, and John Richardson; and five sisters: Evelyn Moul, Betty Freeman, Pat Seacrest, Marcella Cross, and Martha Lyon.

Jesse is survived by his wife, JoAnn Richardson, Cleveland; two sons: Brad Richardson, West Line; and Chris (Cathy) Richardson, Harrisonville; two daughters: Cindy Richardson, Freeman, MO; and Susan (Will) Ruble, Cleveland; one brother, Larry (Linda) Richardson, Belton, MO; one sister, Mary Jane (Glendon) Ullery, Lees Summit; twelve grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends.

Judy Kay Schapeler, age 66 of Butler, Missouri died Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at her home near Bulter. She was born November 20, 1953 to Alton Joseph and Evelyn Verie Fennewald Dunlap in Butler.

Judy is survived by her husband, Philip Schapeler of Butler, Missouri; three sons, Mark Schapeler and Monte Schapeler, both of Butler, Missouri and Matthew Schapeler and special friend Kristin of Lathrop, Missouri; her mother, Evelyn Dunlap of Butler, Missouri; one brother, Ron Dunlap and wife Debbie of Butler, Missouri; several nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces and cousins; and Kristin’s boys, Lukas and Korbyn. She was preceded in death by her father, Alton in 1998.
