Butler PD set for BBQ Championship

The Butler Police Association along with Country Mart is getting ready for the 5th annual Bates County BBQ State Championship and Fall Festival with big payouts planned for participants. The 2009 event held at the Fairgrounds was deemed a huge success with 39 teams and $8,300 in payouts for the BBQ competition alone. This years amount is slated to be at least that amount with even a larger group as the word spreads around the region.

The Butler Police Association was formed with the idea to give back to the community where we all live and work.  The annual community projects the BPA supports includes the BBQ Championship.  Other fundraising projects consist of scholarships, the Shop with a Cop Program for underprivileged children, supporting children’s athletics, an automated external defibrillator for patrol cars, donations to the senior center, the purchase of a tracking and drug dog for the community and many more.
