Funeral services for Lynn Hatch will be 1:00 PM Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Cleveland Christian Church in Cleveland, Missouri under the direction of the Mullinax Funeral Home in Butler, Missouri (660) 679-0009. Visitation will be Friday evening, 6-8 PM at the Mullinax Funeral Home in Drexel, Missouri. Burial in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, Missouri. Contributions, American Lupus Foundation, or Boy Scouts of America.
Vera Lynn Hatch, 54 of Butler, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at her home in Butler due to complications from stroke and Lupus. Lynn was born July 10, 1957 in Paola, KS, daughter of Robert Lee “Bob” Bishop and Zoe Rene (Nicholls) Bishop. She was a graduate of Francis Howell High School, St. Charles, MO. Lynn was united in marriage to Donald Lee Hatch on March 1, 1980. They lived in Cass County, MO 22 years before moving to Butler 10 years ago.
Lynn had worked as a garment seamstress for area clothing factories, including the Grace Co. in Belton, MO where she enjoyed making children’s clothes. After the Grace Co. closed its doors in the 1990’s, she worked for JC Penney’s in Lenexa, KS as a warehouse employee where she remained until her health forced her to retire in 2010.
Lynn was best known in the Midway R-1, Cleveland, MO community for her tireless involvement in her children’s activities. She was everything from a soccer coach, to den mother (Troop 256, Freeman, MO), to After-Prom Committee member. Her hobbies were sewing, quilting, gardening, basket weaving and shopping. She belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution, Old Pueblo Chapter, Tucson, AZ. She will be remembered as a wonderful seamstress who always made beautiful quilts, dresses, and outfits for her family members and beautiful bridesmaid dresses for her daughter’s and sister’s weddings. She enjoyed life to the fullest and loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were her world.
Lynn was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her husband, Donald, of the home; a daughter, Amanda Lynn Freidline and husband, Louis of Peculiar; son, Allen Lee Hatch and wife Shanon of Drexel, MO; step-son, Donald Paul “Donny” Hatch of Florissant, MO; her mother, Zoe Rene Bishop of Tucson, AZ; three sisters, Vickie Bishop, Tucson, AZ, Lolita Whitworth, Bois D’Arc, MO, and Velma Butler, Kansas City, MO; half-brother Martie Grimm, Cushing, OK; step-mother, Leanna Bishop, Belton, MO; two step-sisters, Linda Solomon, Belton, MO; and Liz Brockman, Green Ridge, MO; and eight grandchildren.
