On 5/7/14 the Bates County Sheriff’s Detectives made an arrest on
Michael J Coffman of Butler, Missouri.
Coffman was arrested on 6 counts of endangering the welfare of a child
and 3 counts of 2nd degree assault.
Coffman’s bond was set at $90,000 cash or surety. Michael Coffman is out of jail on bond.
A second subject is currently being sought in connection with the
case. That subject has been identified
as Shawna K Coffman. A warrant for
Shawna Coffman has been issued for 6 counts of endangering the welfare of a
child and 3 counts of 2nd degree assault.
This case stems from a hotline of a child abuse or neglect. During the investigation it was determined
that the parents had put locks on all the cabinets and refrigerator to prevent
the children from having access to food.
It was also determined that there was physical abuse of the children in
the house.
Shawna Coffman knows that there are multiple warrants for her
arrest and it appears she is avoiding law enforcement.
