On March 28 and 29 the production of “Straight from the Horse’s Mouth” was enjoyed both Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon at the Hume School. The cast who entertained us were: Brianna Austin, Samantha Reno, Jonathon Kellhofer, Madison Cannon, Grant Swickhamer, Robbie Spencer, Colby Sisson, Karlee Metcalf, Brooke Best, Michala Lanstberger, Rebecca Wisdom, Megan Sutcliffe, Jordan Wisdom, Kelsie Wikoff and Jesse Trelease. They were under the direction of Jaleana Thompson with stage crew members; Emily Ward, Hope Yarick, Malia McFrederick, Catie Laughlin, Kaiyah Kaiser and Hannah Swickhamer.
A delicious meal of pulled pork and all the trimmings were enjoyed. During intermission dessert was served and the crowd was entertained by “People of New York: Bust a Hip” which was put on by Hannah Gorda, Anna Spencer, Jaylynn Rogers and Deborah Yarick. It was an awesome performance by all who participated.
The Cub Scout Troop pack 4012 held their first Blue and Gold Dinner on Sunday, March 22. Scouts and family enjoyed a carry in dinner. Scouts received awards and some were advanced on into Boy Scouts. A representative from the Scouts Organization was there to speak to the group. Special guest speaker was Scott Morrison, who gave an outstanding talk to the kids on his life and the obstacles he had to overcome from an accident he had when he was 14 years old and what you can do with your life.
On March 29 the Scout Troop held their first annual Pinewood Derby race at the Hume Legion Hall. First, second and third place winners will advance onto the District Pinewood Derby to be held in Clinton, MO on April 25. The scouts all did a fantastic job on their cars and had a great time racing them. A big thank you goes to Verne and Angie Wepener for all their hard work in this organization.
The Hume High School play was the 5th annual School Dinner Theatre. Support and contributions of the dinner theatre benefit the English Department and Hume After Prom. We look forward to next year’s play.
The Annual Hume PTO community Easter Egg hunt will be Saturday, April 4. Sign up starts at 1:30 P.M. at the Hume Legion Hall with the hunt at 2:00 p.m. for ages 0-10 years old. Word has it that the Easter Bunny will be making an appearance so bring your cameras.
The Hume Christian Church will hold their Annual Sunrise Service and breakfast at 6:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 5. Regular services will follow with Sunday School at 10:00 a.m. and worship service at 11:00 a.m.
The Hume United Methodist Church will hold their Annual Easter Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. with Special worship service at 9:30 a.m. There will be no 10:30 a.m. service.
If you don’t have a home church the Hume area churches invite you to worship with them on Sunday.
