Larry L. Wright, 81, of Sioux City, Iowa died Tuesday evening at an Olathe Kansas hospital. He was born October 22, 1935 in Sioux City, the son of Melvin Leroy Wright and Florence Geraldine (Keller) Wright.
He married Patricia Ann Stocking on October 28, 1955 in Correctionville, Iowa. She preceded him in death on December 24, 2006.
Larry was an over the road truck driver for Sioux Transportation in Sioux City, IA. He also drove for various trucking companies in the Sioux City area. After retiring from trucking he and Patti were transporters for the Royal Oaks Hospital in Windsor, Missouri. He was a member of the Nazarene Church, Sioux City, IA, and had attended the Church of the Nazarene in Clinton, Mo. His family was most important to him. Taking family vacations, baseball, specifically the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Kansas City Chiefs were also things he enjoyed.
Surviving are one son, Lamont L. Wright and his wife Patty, Sioux City, IA; one daughter, Elizabeth A. Herrick and her husband Patrick, Olathe, KS; six grandchildren, Emily Myers and her husband Mark, New Orleans, Louisiana, Anna Herrick, Madeline Herrick, Abby Herrick, all of Olathe, KS, Melissa Wright, and Sheilah Wright, both of Sanford, North Carolina; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Cleone Perkins.
In addition to his wife Patti, he was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Steve Wright.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, Mo. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., just prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor, MO, at a later date.
