Updated Obituary - Coy Franklin Allred

Coy Franklin Allred, 86, Freeman, Missouri, died Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri with visitation from 10:00-11:00. Burial will be in Freeman Cemetery.

Coy was born March 28, 1930 in Compton, Arkansas, the son of Dessie Ray and Lizzie Lee (Davidson) Allred. He married Ruth Barbara Carnes on June 26, 1953 in Huntsville, Arkansas. They moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1954 and had lived in Freeman for 20 years.

Coy owned and operated Coy’s Floor Service in Freeman for 40 years before retiring in 2003. He was a life member of the NRA, Central States Bass Association, and the Loma Vista Assembly of God in Kansas City, Missouri. He was also a Boy Scout leader for many years in Kansas City. Coy was 3/4 Cherokee Indian and was very proud of his heritage.

Coy was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Mike, and two sisters, Nora Rogers and Dollie Fowler. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of the home; one son, Sam Allred (Cheri), Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters, Rhonda Kelley (Michael), Harrisonville, Missouri and Mia Baker (Darrell), Freeman, Missouri; two brothers, Buddy Allred, Fayetteville, Arkansas and Floyd Allred (Cora), Springdale, Arkansas; two sisters, Ruby Mayes and Lovella Fern Rush, both of Springdale, Arkansas; 7 grandchildren, Susy Tarwater, Chad Kelley, Eric McBee, Aaron Willett, Jessy Baker, Misty Conquest, and Darrell Baker, and 14 great-grandchildren.
