Crisis Intervention Team Officers Respond to Suicidal Person in Garden City

At about 4:30 Sunday afternoon, Officers of the Garden City Police Department were called to the 600 block of Main Street for a disturbance in progress. 

When officers arrived they they discovered an 18 year old woman from Independence Missouri who was allegedly damaging property and assaulting residents. 

Responding Garden City Officers are trained Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) members and recognized the woman was experiencing some type a mental health crisis. 

Officers also found evidence the woman may also be under the influence of some type of illegal substance. Officers were able to take the woman to Cass Regional Medical Center for a 96 hour evaluation.
