CASS CO –Detectives with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office along with the Central Cass Fire Protection District and Missouri State Fire Marshall's Office are investigating a fatal fire reported around 1:21 a.m. Friday morning in rural Pleasant Hill.Deputies arrived on scene in the 20000 block of E. 203rd Street shortly after an occupant of the residence reported the fire.Deputies found a single story residence engulfed in smoke.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as Norman R. Caywood, 76 of Pleasant Hill. Fire personnel located Mr. Caywood inside the residence.
Fire Investigators with the Central Cass Fire Protection District and Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office are working to determine the cause of the fire, however it does not appear to be suspicious
