Breaking News Update: Victim Found in Cass County Field Identified

CASS CO – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has identified the body of a male found in a farm field near E. 278th and State Route DD as Vincent J. Royal 36, of Independence, Missouri.

Investigators believe that Mr. Royal was an occupant in a vehicle that fled from deputies on April 4, 2017. The vehicle pursuit began around 1:00 am north of Peculiar on I-49. The driver lost control and crashed in the area at E. 275th and Hayden Bridge Rd outside of Harrisonville. 

The driver was immediately taken into custody at the scene. Several deputies and a K9 Unit searched the area for Mr. Royal however they did not locate him.

The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office is awaiting test results in 6-8 weeks and have not released a cause of death.
