Non Compliant sex offender from Vernon County found working at Butler McDonald's

Yesterday afternoon around 1:00pm the Butler Police Department received information from the Vernon County Sheriff's Office that a wanted non compliant sex offender was possibly working at Butler McDonald's.

When Butler Police arrived on scene they contacted a manager and assisted manager in reference to 57 year old Richard L. Covey of Schell City, Missouri who was at work at the time. The assistant manager went in and got Mr. Covey who was taken into custody without incident.

Mr. Covey was arrested for 1.) Vernon County Sheriff's Office warrant for failure to register as a Missouri Sex Offender. He was booked into the Bates County and is awaiting extradition to Vernon County. Bond was set at $5,000 cash/surety.

He was convicted on 12/31/04 of first degree child molestation in Schell City, Missouri and also arrested again on 5/17/10 in Greenfield, Missouri for first degree child molestation. In both cases the victims were between the ages of 7-14.
