Combative subject in the Barton County Jail

On 3-4-2018 the Barton County Jail staff was having a difficult time dealing with an inmate that had been recently arrested by the City of Lamar Police Department on a Felony Assault case. The arrest took place the day before on 3-3-2018.

The inmate was on a watch due to self harm. The inmate started beating on the walls and being confrontational and combative.

The Jail staff requested assistance upstairs in the jail from the on duty Deputies and available Lamar Police Officers. When the Jailer opened the door to the cell block to gain some kind of control of the inmate.

The Jailer gave the inmate loud and clear orders and the inmate failed to comply with those orders. The inmate was then administered the taser device.

The inmate fell to the floor and the Jailer was able to get control of the inmate. Once the inmate was able to safely be placed into handcuffs the inmate was brought downstairs. The Barton County Ambulance was called to come over and assist in removing the probes from the inmate.

The inmate was placed back into his cell block a short time later and at this time there has not been any further problems.
