K9 assists in meth bust near Adrian
On 3/22/18 a deputy from the Bates County Sheriff’s Office
attempted to stop a vehicle south of Adrian on I49. The vehicle hesitated to stop for the deputy. The vehicle pulled over and the male driver exited the vehicle and ran on foot. The female passenger was taken into custody at the vehicle. Additional units and K9 were dispatched to the scene to apprehend the driver. A short time later the driver was tracked by K9 units and located hiding by the railroad tracks. The K9 took the suspect into custody. The suspect received minor injuries from the dog and was transported to the Bates County Jail.
The driver was identified as Michael L Alexander, 12/10/1973 of Independence Missouri. Alexander was held for fleeing and had a no bond parole warrant for being a felon in possession of a firearm and methamphetamines.
The passenger was identified as Ashley C Burrous, 12/14/1984 of Johnstown Missouri. Burrous was charged with Felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety.
