Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2019 at the Butler Christian Church in Butler, MO. Randy’s final resting place will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler, MO.
Randy was born March 21, 1943, to Roberta and Vernon Winburn of Lee’s Summit, MO. He grew up in Lee’s Summit, MO, Tampa, FL and Boston, MA, as his parents raised and raced greyhounds during his young childhood. He graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1961, attended Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg, MO and graduated in 1965 from Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ with a BS in Business Administration.
Randy met Pamela Fry in college at Warrensburg, MO, and they were married December 27, 1964. Randy began serving 6 years in the Army National Guard shortly after his marriage. Randy and Pam were blessed with two daughters, JoDee and Jackie, and one son Jeff. Randy loved coaching Jeff’s Little League football teams, and coaching and cheering on his daughters in volleyball, basketball and softball. While raising his family in Butler, he and his family were members of the First Christian Church. After moving to the Lake of the Ozarks, he and Pam became members of the Lake Presbyterian Church at Osage Beach.
Randy managed to have several successful careers in his lifetime. He was a natural salesman, and sold pharmaceuticals in Kansas City, and men’s clothing (The Country Squire) which he co-owned with his mother, Roberta in Butler. He sold automobiles for Kahn Transportation in Butler, small to large boats for Port Arrowhead in the Lake of the Ozarks, and then moved into real estate at the Lake. He most recently served as a partner in Diamond Bay Car Wash at the Lake.
Randy made friends easily and was happiest when he and Pam entertained friends or family. He enjoyed playing and watching sports and loved to make things interesting by having a small wager on the outcome. His love of bass fishing took him all over the U.S. Randy had years of enjoyment playing golf, fishing for crappie, hunting for quail, dove and ducks. He, Pam and family enjoyed traveling and witnessing the wonders of Europe, Africa and Asia.
Randy had recently moved back to Raymore, MO, with Pam, to be closer to family members and long-time friends. Randy was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jeff. He is survived by his wife, Pam, two daughters, JoDee Fink and husband, Allen, of Amsterdam, MO, and Jackie Winburn and spouse, Rosanne of Seattle, WA, along with one brother, Larry Winburn and wife, Carol Ann, of Butler, MO. Randy’s grandchildren include Samantha Fink, Dylan Fink and wife, September, Cadent Winburn and Hanna Winburn, as well as one great-grandson Zachary Fink.
