Obituary -Helen Isabel Endecott

Helen Isabel Endecott, 93 of Louisburg, Kansas passed away April 16, 2020. A private graveside service will be held in Sharon Cemetery, Drexel, Missouri with Reverend Steven Donnelly officiating. Services under the direction of Mullinax Funeral Home, Drexel Chapel (660-679-0009).

Helen Isabel (Nichols) Endecott was born August 29, 1926, west of Drexel, Missouri in Miami County, Kansas to Omar Nichols and Eunice (May) Nichols. Helen graduated from Drexel High School. After WWII Helen, along with her sister Lila, took the teacher’s examination and taught in country schools near Drexel. On August 9, 1947 she married Raynard Marvin Endecott.

Together they had four sons. Helen and Raynard had a farm west of Drexel, and she worked tirelessly beside her husband to create a good life for her family. When her sons were almost grown Helen continued her education at Avila College and received her teaching certificate.

Helen was a homemaker and wife all her adult life, family meant everything to her. She loved music and according to her sister Lila, she was a natural playing her clarinet and violin and received high ratings at state competitions in high school. She passed that talent on to several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen loved to read, quilt, garden, fish, and anything chocolate and was always ready for a card game or to roast a hotdog over an open fire. Helen attended school activities of her grandchildren when possible and was always their greatest supporter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raynard Endecott, son Randall Endecott, and sister Lila Jones. She is survived by three sons; Stephen R. Endecott and wife Kay of Whitehouse, Texas, Walter L. Endecott and wife Patti of Pleasanton, Kansas, and Philip D. Endecott and wife Linda of Fairway, Kansas, daughter-in-law Kathy of Kansas City, eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
