Jacob Foster, 83, the son of George, Sr. and Eunice Leora (Frey) Foster, was born September 1, 1936 in rural Bates County. He departed this life April 30, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

He grew up in the Appleton City area, graduating from Appleton City High School in 1954. Then he began working for H.D. Lee in clothing manufacturing for several years. Jake served in the US Army from 1959-1961, proudly serving his country. Shortly before this he married Georgia Foster on July 1, 1959, his wife of 60 years. To this union two children were born: Kevin and Jeff. After completing his military service, he began a 31year career at MODOT until his retirement.

Apart from his career, Jake’s family was the most cherished thing in his life. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren, supporting their passions and endeavors throughout their lives. Along with this, he enjoyed teasing and joking with friends and family. Jake also supported his community with his presence, where he would do anything for anyone, serving on many local boards and the volunteer fire department. Many generations of Blue Jays knew Jake would always be in the stands supporting them. He will be deeply missed by his many family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Elizabeth Foster, Joan Pullen (Elmer), Stella Jones (Glen), and George Foster, Jr. (Patty).

He is survived by his wife, Georgia; two sons, Kevin (Amy) Foster and Jeff (Michelle) Foster; one granddaughter, Abby Foster and fiancé T.J.; 3 great-grandchildren: Quinton, Jaylen Chianne; and two sisters: Dora Cole (Maynard) and Margaret Dines (A.C.); along with a large-extended communal family and many friends.
