On 5/2/20 around 6:45pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Harrisonville Police Department and Cass County Sheriffs Deputies responded to a fatality accident in the southbound lanes of I-49 at mile marker 161.8 just north of Harrisonville.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1994 Ford F-150 driven by 73 year old Max B. Herrick of Peculiar, Missouri and the 1998 Toyota Rav-4 driven by 29 year old Kimberlee A. Ratliff of Liberty, Missouri were stopped on the shoulder of I-49 due to a vehicle breaking down. Both vehicles were struck and hit by a 2020 Kenworth Semi truck driven by 57 year old Jeffrey J. Bridgman of Odessa, Texas.
Mr. Herrick was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by the Jackson County Medical Examiners Office.
Kimberlee A. Ratliff along with a passenger in her vehicle 49 year old Robert D. Herrick of Harrisonville, Missouri were both injured in this accident and Herrick was transported to Cass Regional Medical Center for treatment.
All three vehicles involved were totaled and towed from the scene of the accident by J's Southland Tow of Raymore.
