On 8/20/20 around 9:47am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a bicyclist that was struck by a vehicle on northbound Route D just south of 231st Street in rural Cass County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2004 Ford Ranger driven by 28 year old Shane D. Jurgenson of Drexel, Missouri was distracted by his cellular device and struck the 2018 Colnago C60 Dura-Ace bicycle ridden by 65 year old Stephen D. Godfrey of Leawood, ejecting him from the bicycle.
Stephen D. Godfrey sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was transported by Belton EMS to Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.
