For anyone who doesn't know, an Urgent Care facility perfectly fills a large void between seeing your regular doctor and going to the emergency room. We are proud to announce that Bates county now has a facility doing just that- Butler Urgent Medicine "Care On The Square" located at 9 N. Main St. that will officially be open for business Wednesday, June 9th.
You never need an appointment as Butler Urgent Medicine is a walk in, first come, first serve clinic for minor emergencies such as cuts, nosebleeds, removal of foreign objects and minor injuries. You can also get care for sudden onset illnesses such as sore throats, urinary tract infections, colds and coughs, sexual health including testing/treatment for STD's and screening for reproductive concerns. Also available are school and sports physicals, COVID testing, pregnancy testing, glucose testing, urinalysis, rapid strep testing and more. There's also treatment for accidental injuries such as sprains/strains, pulled muscles, lacerations, allergies, pneumonia, bronchitis and more.
Yes, you will see a doctor, not an NP or PA. Butler Urgent Medicine is not intended as a replacement for your primary care physician but can easily handle all your urgent care needs such as EKG's, IV rehydration, facture stabilization, care for eye injuries, ear wax flushes, ingrown toenail removals, wound care and any other procedures not requiring emergent or surgical intervention. They can also do your medication refills but sorry, no controlled pain medications.
When to go to an emergency room instead? If you have a concussion, loss of consciousness (passing out or fainting), have severe chest pain, extreme blood loss, exposed broken bones, suspected stroke, shortness of breath, etc. Anyone who comes to Butler Urgent Medicine deemed in need of critical care will be immediately referred to an emergency room. Likewise if a patient is in need of a specialist non-emergency, a referral will be made; and since the referral comes from an urgent care facility, that patient generally sees the doctor much sooner.
Butler Urgent Medicine is currently accepting Medicare and soon will be adding Medicaid, Ambetter, Tricare Blue Cross and United Health Care insurance. Since they are are a small, private clinic and are not associated with any other clinic or hospital, payment is due at the time of service. Acceptable payments can be made by cash, credit/debit, Venmo and checks under certain conditions. If you do not have insurance, you'll get 40% off the billable insurance rate.
You'll get very personal service with a hometown touch as owner Dr. Lindsay Henderson has always wanted to operate a small town practice. Her interest in medicine began at age 3 after witnessing her grandfather's fatal heart attack. Dr. Henderson currently holds 7 health related degrees which allows her to be proficient in a wide variety of diagnosis and treatments; all beneficial as she fulfills her dream with the opening of Butler Urgent Medicine.
Alongside Dr. Henderson is a very professional staff including Medical Assistant Kristin Davis, AAPC Certified Coder Amy Jackson and Dr. Kandice Fleming MD, serving as medical director and backup physician.
Butler Urgent Medicine will be open starting Wednesday, June 9th from 9 am to 7 pm weekly Wednesday through Friday and Saturdays 9 am to 2 pm. Hours of operation will increase eventually to six days a week. Please note that 'last call' for patients will be approximately one hour before close.
