Obituary - Juanita Ruth Baggerly
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri.
Juanita was born in Dana, Illinois on May 2, 1924 to Lewis Tucker and Ruth M. (Durban) Tucker. Juanita was a woman of strong Baptist faith throughout her life. She was joined in marriage with her late husband Harold Lester Baggerly in Ottawa, Illinois, on September 25, 1944, and together they were blessed with one son. Having many brothers and sisters of her own, family was such an important part of Juanita’s life, and she loved being a Grandma. For many years, Juanita and Harold were members of and faithfully attended services at the First Baptist Church of Raymore (now Faith Baptist Church). Each, having their own bible, Juanita had read hers from cover to cover multiple times. In life Juanita also enjoyed reading, gardening, and fishing (often out-catching all who were with her). But most of all, she loved to cook for others and often said she would have loved to have been a chef.
Juanita was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold Baggerly; parents, Lewis and Ruth Tucker; three brothers, Louis Eugene Tucker, Wayne Tucker, and David Tucker, sister, Lois Reynolds; and two brothers in law, Merle Hayes and Orris Reynolds.
She is survived by her son, Louis Gene Baggerly and daughter-in-law, Teresa; sister, Marilyn Hayes; four grandchildren, Shawna Baggerly (Brandon), Tonya Carter (Brian), Louis Tucker Baggerly (Haley), and Nathaniel Gene Baggerly; and eleven great grandchildren.
Juanita was always smiling and was a source of joy for those lucky enough to have known her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or Faith Baptist Church (414 S Franklin ST, Raymore, MO 64083).

East Lynne woman injured in Cass County rollover accident
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2015 Chevrolet Sonic driven by 32 year old Ashlie A. Schlauderaff of East Lynne, Missouri failed to stop at a stop sign causing her vehicle to travel through Route P and onto Parris Road. The vehicle then traveled off the right side of the roadway striking the ground and a road sign before overturning and coming to rest upright on its wheels.

MoDOT News Release: Respect the Load. Share the Road
“There were 130 people killed involving a CMV in 2020, with over 80% being drivers or passengers of other vehicles,” said Jon Nelson, MoDOT assistant to the state highway and traffic engineer. “Please don’t risk your life by driving aggressively around big trucks and buses.”
Commercial motor vehicles make up 20% of Missouri’s interstate traffic, carry goods from coast to coast and are a vital part of our nation’s economy. They also provide critical services many Missourians rely on every day. When crashes involving CMVs happen, the disproportionate size of the large truck versus a car means those crashes can often involve serious injuries, or worse. Research shows that in most of these crashes, drivers of passenger cars unnecessarily endanger themselves by not paying attention and driving aggressively around CMVs. That’s why it’s so important for all motorists to drive safely around CMVs. Respect the Load. Share the Road.
The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety offers the following tips for driving safely around CMVs.
· Don’t cut off large trucks or buses. Make sure you can see both of the truck’s cab lights in your rearview mirror before moving back into your original lane.
· Stay out of the “No Zone.” Large trucks and buses have large blind spots on either side and up to 200 feet behind a vehicle. Pass only on the left side. Don’t linger in a blind spot. Do not tailgate large trucks and buses.
· Watch your following distance. Keep a safety cushion around large trucks. Can you see the truck’s side mirrors? If not, the driver cannot see you.
· Anticipate wide turns. Large trucks and buses need extra turning room.
· Be patient. Large trucks and buses accelerate slowly and may use speed limiters.
MoDOT continues to work toward a goal of zero roadway fatalities and urges all who travel in and around the Show-Me State this summer to buckle up, put the cellphone down, slow down and never drive while impaired. Whether driving through a work zone, sharing the road with motorcyclists or cruising around city streets with pedestrians in the area, slowing down and paying attention can help save lives.
For more information on commercial motor vehicle safety and Missouri’s new strategic highway safety plan, Show-Me Zero, and how everyone can participate, visit www.savemolives.com.

Obituary - Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Murphy
Betty was born and lived most of her life in Rosedale, KS (now Kansas City, KS) until relocating to Harrisonville, MO where she resided at Crown Care Center since 2014. Daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, (yes, 5 generations!), friend and co-worker, were just a few of the hats she wore in her lifetime. Employment consisted of numerous office positions, among them Jules Borel & Co. and most notably Studio DuVall's in Ward Parkway Shopping Center, owned and operated by her firstborn daughter, Sharon Welsh (deceased 1989).
The youngest of 9 children born to Arthur & Effie (Craine) Standish (deceased 1929 & 1969), she survived them all; married to Delbert J. Murphy (deceased 1981), together they raised 4 children - Sharon Welsh, Patricia Jurgeson (husband John), Cleveland, MO; Deborah Murphy, Belton, MO; Michael Murphy (wife Debra), Trophy Club, Texas; 5 grandchildren with 2 bonus grands, 10 great-grandchildren with 4 bonus greats, and 2 great-great-grandchildren with another to be born Oct. 2021 - all because two people loved each other.
Betty lived through World Wars (some right there at home!), the Great Depression, men on the moon, Polio to Covid 19 and so much more. Her love of gardening and boating created the most fabulous flower gardens with drift wood and rocks from Stockton Lake; bowling at Roe Lanes was highly competitive and a family tradition; caramel rolls and cream puffs were her specialty that rivaled any bakery; so many talents, from stained glass to creative handmade gifts for all occasions which blessed family, friends, and her other residents; classy, sassy lady with a bit of glitz and bling to her attire; hugs and blowing kisses defined her come and go; a member of Rosedale Congregational Church, she created children's story time (which was known to include a live lamb and baby chick to illustrate the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus); Florence Nightingale nursing qualities without the degree served us all so well; documented Standish descendant to Myles Standish (thanks to our historian, Deborah Murphy), an English military officer among the pilgrims on the ship Mayflower who played a leading role in Plymouth colony's foundation in 1620.
Some quotes that describe the essence of our Beloved:
'She lived with a mind and in a body that could not keep up with her spirit';
'To live in the hearts and memory of those left behind is to not die';
Motor vehicle accident west of Adrian on Missouri 18 Highway
Obituary - Orlando Paul Ramirez
Viewing will be held 9 am-10am and Funeral services will be 10am-11 am, August 3, 2021 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home of Galveston and burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Galveston.
Paul was a long-time resident of Galveston, Texas and was the second eldest out of his seven siblings. Like his mother, Rita, he started his career working for Shipley’s in Texas City, alongside with his younger brother Alvino “Babe” Ramirez making donuts. He was widely known for being a huge Dallas Cowboy super fan and loved nothing more than to banter with the Houston Oiler fans in the early morning hours at Shipley’s. He loved listening to blues and oldies but goodies Dj’d by Babe, while making donuts and talking about the good old days. He was confident in his dancing skills, which could only be attributed to all the family parties at grandmas. He even won a dance contest once! He had a passion for collecting old money in all forms, which passed on to his children. He loved traveling with his sons visiting Native American land, and was also a great storyteller.
He was a survivor of cancer but succumbed to Gods request to be with him, where he can walk amongst the angels as the strong man he once was. Without a doubt, his first statement to God will be “How about them Cowboys”!
He had the life that God allowed him to have, by letting his choices to be fulfilled. We should seek comfort in that, and understand that Death has taken his body, God has taken his soul, but our faith lets us know that we will meet again! Let us not cry today because his life is over but rejoice that his life has begun again with our Father.
Paul is preceded in death by his mother Rita C. Lopez, his daughter Samantha T. Ramirez, grandson Kyle Ramirez, brother-in law Al Vargas. He is survived by his wife Carie Bethea Ramirez, children Rita L. Ramirez; Tina M. Cochnauer (Robert Cochnauer) Angela Jaimes (Ismael Jaimes) Chris Ramirez (Jennifer Ramirez) JT Bethea (Whitney Bethea) Courtney R. Ramirez, 12 Grand Children and 8 Great-Grandchildren. His sisters, Rose Vargas, Tina Blume (Richard Blume), Stella Varela (Michael Varela). His brothers, Alvino Ramirez (Emelda Ramirez), Richard Lopez (Lisa Lopez), Tico Lopez (Agnes Lopez), Paul Lopez (Leslie Sundell) and several nieces and nephew.
