Gary Lynn Jones, age 63 of Butler, Missouri died Saturday, May 6, 2023, at his home in Butler. He was born July 18, 1959, to Glen Melvin and Elizabeth Bliss Radcliff Jones in Clinton, Missouri.

Gary, the youngest of three children, grew up and attended school in Calhoun, Missouri where he was a 1977 graduate of Calhoun High School. He lived in Calhoun and Clinton, Missouri before moving to Butler, Missouri in 2018. Gary’s work experiences included working on the family farm with his dad for 15 years, an inspector for Missouri Department of Agriculture, worked with his cousin, Mike Jones, on Mike’s farm outside of Clinton where Gary continued to raise his own cattle, and lastly worked with Burns Custom Spraying. He attended Calhoun Baptist Church, Northeast Baptist Church in Clinton and later the Friendship Full Gospel Church in Butler. On June 13, 1981, he married Kelly McElwain, and to this union two sons were born.

Gary was hardworking, had a good sense of humor, a big heart, and never knew a stranger. He loved anything to do with the farm—row crops, working cattle, and baling hay. He enjoyed his cats, named all his baby calves, and collected toy tractors. Gary was famous for nick-naming his nieces boy names and nephews girl names. He was referred to as “Aunt Gary” by his nieces.

Gary is survived by two sons, Tony Jones and wife Jessica of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Brad Jones of Butler, Missouri; three grandchildren, Isaac, Elias, and Lucy Jones; a sister, Mickey Roberts and husband Gary of Butler, Missouri; brother-in-law, Bill Turner of Creighton, Missouri; and former spouse, Kelly McElwain Jones of Butler, Missouri.
