Update: Suspect charged after police chase

 Around 11:15 p.m. on Thursday September 7th the Butler Police Department responded to a report of a person sitting in a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot on Fran Avenue.

When officers arrived on scene they requested back up from the Bates County Sheriffs Office for a possible stolen vehicle. The vehicle fled the parking lot and a pursuit raced down Ft. Scott Street at speeds of 80 mph. 

The vehicle got to the east side of Ft. Scott Street before turning around heading back west striking and disabling a police car.

The Butler officer wasn’t injured in this accident. The fleeing vehicle stuck another car at Bear Stop before flipping off the roadway and catching fire near 52 West and K Highway west of Butler.

Bates County Sheriff Chad Anderson says two of his deputies were sent to the hospital with minor injuries as well. 

The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and he was identified as 24 year old Collin Wade Logan of Altoona, Kansas.

Mr. Logan was charged with the following charges 1.) Assault -1st Degree/Special Victim 2.) Resisting Arrest By Fleeing. He was booked into the Bates County Jail and he is currently listed as bondable.
