BCMH gets new EMS Command vehicle

Emily Gilkey, EMT-B is our Compliance Quality Coordinator, and she also fills the role of grant writing for our hospital.

She’s pictured here with Ambulance Supervisor Russ Whisenand, Paramedic, standing next to our new (gently used) EMS Command Vehicle, purchased with funds from the very first grant awarded to BCMH that Emily has written.

The SFY 2023 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFR) Emergency Medical Service Providers Grant awarded BCMH $20,000 toward the emergency services vehicle.

The new EMS Command vehicle will be dedicated to special tasks such as advanced life support and basic life support response and will be deployed for large and small incidents such as moving vehicle collisions, spotting during severe weather and EMS equipment transfers.

Having a vehicle dedicated to these lighter tasks will also help alleviate the wear and tear on our ambulance units. Grant writing takes a team approach and we're proud of Emily's efforts and all who are working alongside her on these efforts.
