Norma Jean Burrus, 74 of Nevada, MO, passed from this life Saturday, March 30, 2024, at her home to her Heavenly home following a lengthy illness. Norma was born on August 20, 1949 in Harwood, MO, to John Franklin Horning and Dolly Mae (Thompson) Horning. She was raised in the little town called Porshia, MO, before moving to El Dorado Springs, MO.
Norma married Terry Wehmeyer in 1968 and was blessed with three children. After their divorce, she then married Oran Burrus in 1986 and divorced in 1994.
Norma worked most of her life at multiple different jobs often sacrificing time for herself due to her strong determination to provide for her family. Those include the following; Little Brown Fox Egg Company of Harwood, MO, Fastrip, Shoe Factory, Shirt Factory, Casey General Store and Great Oaks Country Club all in Eldorado Springs, MO and Nelly Don, Nevada Fuel Mart, Cottey College, Moorefew, and Skills Unlimited all in Nevada, MO as well as being an Avon representative. Norma also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She would always carry her digital camera to capture special memories. Norma also loved working with her cattle, crocheting and also loved her wind chimes.
Norma is survived by her three children; Cindy (Wehmeyer) Corbin and husband Renn, Christy (Wehmeyer) Bough and significant other Jeff Bloom, Devin Wehmeyer and wife Missy; eight grandchildren, Tosha (Bough) Howe, (Dan), Brandi (Corbin) Maus, (Jeremy), Scotty Bough (Tana), Shnya Bough her significant other Cody Burton, Tyler Kimzey and girlfriend Machelle Mullanix, Taylor Wehmeyer, George Rocco, Kallie Hardman, step grandson Ethan Maus and six great grandchildren, Sara Howe, Kohl Maus, Addison Howe, Trissalea Bough, Everleigh Burton, and Patience Maus. Three siblings, Dwayne and Kenneth Horning and Alma Stroer. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents John and Dolly Horning, two brothers, Gene and Donald Horning, her first husband, Terry Wehmeyer and a great granddaughter Alexis Howe.
There will be no viewing or visitation, out of respect our loved one's wishes.
