Selection is based on the criteria, but a student stepping up to a particular task will come to play in it. Each student is honored with a certificate of recognition from the Adrian Optimist Club and $20.00 in Adrian Chamber of Commerce “Chamber Bucks.”
April Student of the Month for Miami is junior Brennah Filtingberger. She is the daughter of Rob and Lisa Filtingberger Brennah’s activities in school include volleyball, NHS, FFA and A+ program while her outside activities include club volleyball and after school tutoring. She believes, “That Time Flies.” She plans to attend MCC and play volleyball.
School staff states that the reason for selection is Brennah is the student we are proud to have represent Miami. She is a top student in her class, in National Honor Society, involved in extracurricular activities, and willing to step up and help students. She tutors elementary students after school. She is kind, helpful, and respectful to staff and peers. A true Miami Eagle representative.
Miami R-1 School District May Student of the Month is Katie Downs, daughter of Molly and Eric Downs. Katie is a junior who is involved in volleyball, basketball, FFA, and NHS. She stays busy at work when not at school. She states her mom encourages her to work hard in school. She plans to attend college but has not decided on a major.Staff says: “Katie is an example for what we look for in a Miami Eagle. She is a straight A student and takes her education seriously.
She holds a job outside of school but doesn’t let that interfere with getting quality work done on time. She is respectful to staff and peers and encourages others to keep on task and get work completed. She shares insights in classes that lead to deeper understanding for others. She looks out for her younger siblings. She represents our school in positive manner and we are proud of her.”
